Google published a handful of “Hey Google” prompts for Super Bowl LV, including questions about the game, football facts and cooking timers. They were public suggestions—not secret commands—and they were written for the Buccaneers–Chiefs game on Feb. 7, 2021. Here’s what Google suggested and what happened in the matchup.
What were Google’s Super Bowl LV commands?
In a guide published Feb. 3, 2021, Google suggested these starter questions and requests for Google Assistant. In each example, “Hey Google” is the voice-activation phrase.
- “Hey Google, who’s going to win the big game?” A playful prediction prompt.
- “Hey Google, help me talk like a football fan.” A way to get help with football terms and conversation.
- “Hey Google, give me facts about football.” A prompt for football information. Google’s post said Assistant might note that no team had won the Super Bowl three years in a row.
- “Hey Google, set a pizza timer” or “Hey Google, set a timer for chicken wings.” Requests for themed cooking timers.
Google described Assistant’s game-day roles as helping people brush up on football facts, in the kitchen and with live scores. These are examples from Google’s 2021 guide, not a guarantee that every phrase will work the same way today.
Which game were the commands for?
The guide was tied to Super Bowl LV, played Feb. 7, 2021, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Kansas City Chiefs 31–9. The Buccaneers’ official recap noted that it was the first Super Bowl victory in a team’s home stadium. Read the Buccaneers’ official recap.

Will these commands work on every device?
Not necessarily. Google’s current Assistant Help page cautions that some queries do not work on all devices and in all languages. Results can also depend on how Assistant interprets a request, so a suggested phrase should be treated as a starting point rather than a universal command. Check Google Assistant’s supported queries guidance.
Google’s 2021 post also described U.S. viewing options for that year’s game, including Chromecast with Google TV, the Google TV app on Android, CBS broadcast, CBS All Access and the CBS Sports app. Those were event-specific details from 2021, not current viewing instructions.
