The names below form an 18-candidate shortlist drawn from 2025–2026 comparison coverage—not a verified ranking of 18 distinct, currently available products. Choose by measurement job first, then verify each vendor’s current features, privacy terms and pricing before committing.
How to read this 18-candidate shortlist
The available 2025–2026 comparisons surface 18 candidate names or offerings, but they do not establish that all 18 are distinct, current products or independently verified “best” choices. In particular, the sources group Heap with Contentsquare in one reference, and one 2026 list is published by Flowsery, which places its own platform first. Another list is vendor-authored, and a Piwik PRO comparison is also published by a vendor in the category. Those sources can help identify products and comparison criteria; their ordering and product descriptions should not be treated as neutral test results.
Accordingly, this is a use-case map, not a winner ranking. The categories below reflect how the comparison pages position the candidates; they are starting points for evaluation, not a guarantee that a product has every feature your team needs today.
18 Google Analytics alternatives to investigate
Website analytics and traffic reporting
- Plausible: included among the website analytics candidates in a 2026 comparison.
- Fathom Analytics: included among the website analytics candidates in a 2026 comparison and also named in a separate vendor-authored 2026 list.
- Simple Analytics: included among the website analytics candidates in a 2026 comparison.
- Pirsch: included among the website analytics candidates in a 2026 comparison.
- Matomo: included among the website analytics candidates in a 2026 comparison. A separate 2025 Piwik PRO comparison specifically names Matomo Cloud, so confirm which edition you are evaluating.
- Umami: included among the website analytics candidates in a 2026 comparison.
- Flowsery: included in a 2026 list that places Flowsery first. Because the publisher identifies its own platform first, treat its ranking and self-description as interested claims rather than an independent verdict.
- Seline: included in the same 2026 list; the available comparison evidence does not establish a fuller independent feature assessment.
- DataFast: included in the same 2026 list; the available comparison evidence does not establish a fuller independent feature assessment.
Product analytics and behavioral analysis
- PostHog: positioned toward product analytics and behavioral analysis in a 2026 comparison.
- Mixpanel: positioned toward product analytics and behavioral analysis in a 2026 comparison; it also appears in a vendor-authored 2026 list and a 2025 Piwik PRO comparison.
- Heap / Heap by Contentsquare: positioned toward product analytics and behavioral analysis. The sources use both “Heap” and “Heap by Contentsquare”; confirm the current product and branding rather than counting these labels as separate choices.
- Amplitude: positioned toward product behavior in a vendor-authored 2026 list and named in the 2025 Piwik PRO comparison.
Marketing measurement, enterprise, privacy, and content use cases
- SegmentStream: presented in a vendor-authored 2026 list for marketing measurement.
- Adobe Analytics: presented in a vendor-authored 2026 list for enterprise use; it is also covered by the 2025 Piwik PRO comparison.
- Piwik PRO: presented in a vendor-authored 2026 list for privacy and data ownership, and compared in its own 2025 vendor-authored guide. Treat those characterizations as vendor positioning, not proof of legal compliance.
- Parse.ly: named in the 2025 Piwik PRO comparison. The available evidence does not establish a more specific recommendation for it here.
- Piano: named in the 2025 Piwik PRO comparison. The available evidence does not establish a more specific recommendation for it here.
This map intentionally does not assign scores, declare a winner or claim that each candidate is an equivalent replacement for GA4. The referenced comparisons do not provide an independent, complete feature and pricing audit for all candidates, so confirm details directly with vendors.
#1 Best Overall
Choose by the measurement job you need to do
Website acquisition, traffic and goals
If your central questions are where visitors come from, which pages they visit and whether they complete site goals, begin with the website-analytics group. A focused traffic-reporting product may be a better fit than a broad behavioral suite when the team needs clear site reporting without adopting a larger product-measurement workflow. Define the exact reports and goals you need before comparing products; the label “analytics” alone does not tell you how each tool collects or presents them.
Product usage, funnels and retention
If you need to understand how people move through an application, evaluate the product-analytics group against the behaviors you actually need to measure. The comparison material associates behavioral analysis with features such as funnels, cohorts, retention and session replay. Those capabilities can answer questions that ordinary site-traffic reporting does not, but they can also require event planning, implementation work and ongoing governance. Do not choose a suite just because it offers more analysis modes: first identify the product decisions those modes would support.
Rank #2
Marketing attribution and enterprise analysis
For revenue journeys, cross-channel measurement or enterprise reporting, assess whether the candidate supports the organization’s measurement model, data sources, reporting workflow and operating requirements. The vendor-authored list characterizes SegmentStream as a marketing-measurement option and Adobe Analytics as an enterprise option; those are vendor-published positions, not a neutral finding that either is right for your stack. Use them as leads for a requirements review, not as a substitute for one.
Content measurement
Parse.ly and Piano appear in the 2025 comparison, but the available material does not support a detailed feature-by-feature conclusion about either. If content performance is your main concern, verify the specific editorial metrics, reporting connections, export options and workflow fit with each vendor before adding it to a final shortlist.
Compare privacy and data control concretely
“Privacy-focused” is too broad to settle whether a tool fits your legal, security or data-governance requirements. Ask each vendor specific questions and compare the answers for the edition and deployment model you would use:
- What identifiers, events and other visitor or user data does the implementation collect?
- Where is data hosted, and what hosting or self-hosting choices are available?
- How long is data retained, and what controls exist to change or delete it?
- What consent choices or configuration does your use case require?
- What access controls, export options and integrations does the team need?
A vendor’s privacy or ownership language is not, by itself, proof of compliance with a law or of suitability for a particular jurisdiction. Evaluate your actual collection practices and obligations with the relevant legal and security stakeholders. The 2025 comparison’s useful evaluation dimensions include data retention, real-time reporting, reporting and product features, privacy and security, and customer support.
Rank #4
Estimate implementation effort and total cost
Compare the effort of collecting useful data as well as the subscription cost. A simple website dashboard and a product suite built around funnels, cohorts, replay or autocapture can have very different instrumentation and governance demands. Determine who will define events, maintain the implementation, review data quality and decide which teams can access reports.
Prices and limits are not complete or independently verified across these candidates in the comparison material, and analytics pricing can depend on the usage unit and billing interval. Before selecting a plan, check the current official pricing page and record:
Best Value
- the billing unit, such as events, sessions, users or sites, if applicable;
- the included volume and what happens when it is exceeded;
- which features are available on the plan you would actually buy;
- the billing interval and any conditions attached to the quoted price;
- the expected cost at your own forecast volume, not just the entry-level price.
Do not compare two headline prices until you know they cover comparable usage and features. Recheck pricing immediately before purchase because the cited comparisons do not establish current, region-specific terms for every product.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A practical shortlist process
- Write the job in one sentence. For example: “We need to report site acquisition and completed sign-ups” or “We need to analyze activation and retention inside our product.” If the sentence combines unrelated needs, split it into separate evaluation tracks.
- Choose the matching candidate group. Start with website analytics for traffic and goals; product analytics for behavioral questions; or the relevant enterprise, marketing or content candidates when those are the actual requirements.
- Set minimum data and privacy requirements. Document acceptable hosting, retention, collection and consent practices before considering marketing claims.
- Map the implementation. Identify events, integrations, exports, reports and owners the team requires. Include the time needed to maintain the measurement setup.
- Compare plans at expected usage. Verify current limits, billing terms and included features on each official vendor page; do not rely on dated comparison snippets.
- Test with a defined decision. If evaluation access is available, use the same question and representative data in each candidate, then judge whether the output helps the intended team make that decision. Do not treat a demo or vendor example as an independent benchmark.
Where ScreenshotNeo fits—and where it does not
ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server, not a Google Analytics replacement. It belongs alongside analytics only when your workflow also needs reliable page captures—for example, a separate capture step in a monitoring or documentation workflow. Its API returns a screenshot or PDF from a GET request; the ScreenshotNeo MCP server offers take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf for AI agents and MCP clients. It should not be included in an analytics shortlist as though it reports acquisition, funnels or retention.
For that separate screenshot task, ScreenshotNeo accepts consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets before capture; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and responses identify page verdict and billing status in headers. Its free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. Those are ScreenshotNeo screenshot allowances, not analytics usage or a substitute for an analytics plan.
Explore the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for its capture options and MCP setup. If screenshots are a separate need, sign up for ScreenshotNeo’s free plan to get 1,000 screenshots a month with no card.
