Those dates do not establish when Microsoft stopped selling either model: the sources reviewed do not confirm a retail discontinuation date.
What Microsoft’s support pages confirm
“Surface Studio” can refer to more than one generation, and their servicing status differs. Microsoft says the Surface Studio 2 is no longer within its driver and firmware servicing period. The Studio 2+ remains listed as receiving servicing; Microsoft’s update history records a September 2, 2026 update for devices running Windows 11, version 23H2 or greater, describing security fixes. Microsoft’s Surface Studio 2 update history and Studio 2+ update history document these model-specific statuses.
Microsoft defines the servicing period as the timeframe in which Surface devices receive firmware and driver updates for supported operating systems. Its lifecycle table lists the Studio 2+ as released October 25, 2022, with firmware and driver servicing scheduled to end October 2, 2028. That is a servicing endpoint, not a statement about retail availability. Microsoft’s Surface lifecycle policy explains the distinction.
Support, Windows updates, and sales are different questions
- Firmware and driver servicing: Studio 2 servicing has ended; Studio 2+ remains within the period listed by Microsoft through October 2, 2028.
- Windows operating-system support: This is separate from Surface firmware servicing. Microsoft’s Studio 2 update history notes that Windows 10 support ended October 14, 2025; that does not itself define the Surface device’s servicing date.
- Retail sales: The Microsoft documentation cited here does not establish when Microsoft stopped selling Surface Studio, or whether any retail discontinuation applied to both generations. A servicing date cannot be used as proof of a sales decision.
Microsoft’s Studio 2 update history lists an October 2, 2024 release addressing a potential security vulnerability, alongside its statement that servicing has ended. The date of that listed update should not be mistaken for a retail-discontinuation announcement.

What the Studio 2+ is—and what its update record does not prove
Microsoft describes Surface Studio 2+ as a 28-inch PixelSense touchscreen all-in-one with a Zero Gravity Hinge, an 11th Gen Intel Core H-35 processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 discrete graphics, and Windows 11 Pro. These are the documented product characteristics, not evidence of current stock or a sales announcement. Microsoft’s Studio 2+ features page lists the specifications.
The Studio 2+ was released on October 25, 2022. Its servicing end date of October 2, 2028, and its September 2026 update show that Microsoft has documented a support period and issued an update; those facts alone do not establish a pattern or motive behind the product’s release cadence.

Can you still buy a Surface Studio?
The cited Microsoft pages do not verify current inventory, authorized-retailer stock, regional availability, prices, or the condition of units offered for sale. If you find a listing, check whether it is for Studio 2 or Studio 2+, whether the device is new or used, what warranty applies, and what support eligibility the seller can substantiate. The Studio 2+’s published processor and graphics configuration can help you judge whether the hardware suits your needs, but it is not a current-market comparison.

For future Microsoft support, Microsoft’s service-parts guidance advises keeping the device’s original serial number. It does not guarantee that every part is in stock or that every repair is available. Microsoft’s Surface service-options page provides its service guidance.
