Change the team picture in Teams
- Open Teams and find the team whose picture you want to change.
- Open that team’s More options menu and select Manage team.
- Open Settings, then expand Team details.
- Select Change picture.
- Choose Upload to select a new image, or Remove to clear the current picture.
- Select Save to apply the change. Microsoft says the team picture appears next to the team name. See Microsoft’s team picture instructions.
Who can change a team picture?
Only a team owner can manage the team and change its picture. If you do not see Manage team or the picture controls, check whether you are an owner. Ask a team owner to make the change or update your role if appropriate.
Make sure you are changing the right image
A team picture identifies the team and appears beside its name. It is different from your personal profile picture and from a group chat image, which are managed separately. For those settings, see Microsoft’s instructions to change your profile picture or personalize a group chat image.
Image display and device differences
Microsoft’s Teams for Education guidance notes that an uploaded picture may not appear at the same resolution as the original. The general Teams instructions do not specify a required image size or file-size limit, so do not assume a particular dimension based on that guidance. Menu labels and paths can also vary by device or rollout; the steps above reflect Microsoft’s general team-settings route.
