What is KB5044284, and what did it fix?
KB5044284 is the October 8, 2024 cumulative security update for Windows 11 version 24H2. Microsoft lists OS Build 26100.2033 and says, “This update addresses security issues for your Windows operating system.” Its notes also include improvements from KB5043178, released September 26, 2024.

How were the updates installed?
For a personal Windows 11 PC
Microsoft listed KB5044284 as available through Windows Update. On a device that still applies to a particular update, Windows Update is the ordinary installation route; check the device’s Windows version before looking for a specific KB.
For managed devices or offline images
Microsoft also documented Windows Update for Business, WSUS synchronization, manual packages from the Microsoft Update Catalog, and deployment with DISM or Windows PowerShell. Those are administrator workflows for managed environments or image servicing, rather than steps most home users need to perform.

Is KB5044273 still available?
No. Although KB5044273 was released on October 8, 2024 for Windows 10 version 22H2 and specified LTSC editions, Microsoft’s support page now says: “As of March 31, 2026, this update is no longer available from the Microsoft Update Catalog or other release channels.” The page recommends updating devices to the latest version of Windows. This later expiration notice should not be confused with the package’s original 2024 release status.

The cited Microsoft release materials do not establish an exact total number of Windows vulnerabilities addressed or a verified list of exploited Windows CVEs for this release. The severity and impact labels in Microsoft’s October announcement describe the listed Windows 11 versions; they are not a vulnerability count or confirmation that a particular flaw was exploited.
