To create an event in Constant Contact, go to Channels > Events > Create an event. Add the event details, set up at least one registration ticket, customize the form, configure payments if you are charging attendees, then review and activate the event. Activation makes it available to promote; it does not automatically email invitations or share the event for you.
Before you start: choose your event setup
Decide whether your event is in person or virtual, free or paid, and what information you need from registrants. Constant Contact uses tickets to manage registration, but a ticket can represent a free signup or workshop place rather than paid admission. Printable tickets are a separate option and are not required for every event.
- In person: Prepare a clear venue address and any useful arrival details.
- Virtual: Have the meeting or event URL and access details ready. Plan where registrants will receive them.
- Free: A $0 ticket can be used without connecting a payment method, provided there are no paid add-ons.
- Paid: Connect Stripe and/or PayPal before activation, and decide how to handle Constant Contact’s platform fee.

Create the event and enter its details
- In Constant Contact, open Channels > Events and select Create an event.
- Enter the public event title and description, date and time, location or virtual details, timezone, and host contact information.
- Save the event as a draft if you need to pause before finishing the setup.
Check the timezone carefully: the event timezone is separate from your Constant Contact account timezone. The basics can be edited after the event goes live. For field-by-field guidance, see Constant Contact’s [Event basics instructions].

Set up registration tickets
Create at least one ticket in the standard ticket workflow before activating the event. Give each ticket a name that makes sense to attendees, such as “General admission,” “Volunteer signup,” or “Workshop session.” Tickets can be free or paid; you can set availability, per-order limits, sale dates, and promo codes, and add optional items for sale. Printable tickets are optional.
Constant Contact’s ticket guide states a maximum of 300 tickets per order. This is an order limit, not the total capacity of the event. Review the available ticket settings and any limits in the builder before publishing. See [Creating tickets for an event] for details.

Customize the registration form
Choose the information registrants must provide and set whether a field applies to the registrant or to each ticket type. Keep the form focused on information you genuinely need; different ticket types may call for different questions.
You can configure the form to prevent repeat registrations using the same email address and provide a separate marketing opt-in. A ticket holder’s email address collected for event administration is not, by itself, explicit permission to receive marketing email. Use the opt-in control to request that permission. Configure payment for paid tickets or add-ons
If you charge for tickets or add-ons, connect Stripe and/or PayPal in the event setup before activation. Constant Contact lets the organizer choose whether its platform fee is added to the attendee’s order total or deducted from event revenue. That setting concerns Constant Contact’s platform fee; payment processor fees are a separate consideration. See [Payment methods for an event] for current setup details.
For a free event with a $0 ticket and no paid add-ons, you do not need to configure payment. Constant Contact says there is no processing fee for registered $0 tickets in this setup. A ticketless configuration is also described for some free-event flows, but the standard ticket workflow requires at least one ticket for activation. See the [free event instructions].

Review, activate, and promote the event
- Review the event details, ticket settings, registration form, and payment configuration if applicable.
- Use the activation checklist to identify missing required information and correct it.
- Select the activation option when the event is ready to be made available.
- Use the event’s promotion tools or share its registration page through your chosen channels.
Activation does not automatically send invitations or distribute the registration page. For a virtual event, include the join URL and any needed meeting ID or password in the registration confirmation or a follow-up message.
