Microsoft announced a dedicated Bing experience for the 2024 U.S. elections on October 30, 2024. It brought presidential and state-election results, voting guidance, news and an interactive results map into one search experience. The announcement describes a 2024 election-season feature—not a permanent Bing redesign—and does not establish whether it is still available.
What Bing announced for the 2024 elections
Microsoft said Bing would provide one place to follow the U.S. presidential race and state elections. The experience was designed to combine results with election news, polling and primary outcomes, as well as information about how to vote. Bing’s October 30, 2024 announcement described the feature and its intended coverage.
For voting guidance, Microsoft said people could search “How to vote” or use the relevant module to find information from local election authorities. That points users toward state-specific election-administration information rather than presenting Bing itself as the authority on voting rules.
How the election results map was meant to work
The election-day experience centered on an interactive map. Microsoft said users could filter results by Senate, House and gubernatorial contests, and explore information at the state or county level. The map was also intended to include other statewide offices and ballot measures.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For each contest, the map would show leads and whether a race was active or awaiting results. A side pane would provide an overall snapshot, including electoral and popular votes for the presidential contest. Microsoft also said the experience would expand to mobile.
Results source and updates
Microsoft attributed election results to The Associated Press: “Data for our elections experience will be sourced from The Associated Press.” The company said the side pane would show when data was last refreshed and allow users to refresh it manually. It also said the map would remain after a race was called while final votes continued to arrive. These are Microsoft’s descriptions of the announced experience, not an independent assessment of result accuracy.

How this differed from Bing’s other election work
Microsoft had described a separate effort in November 2023 to help election-administration searches surface reputable information sources. It named the National Association of State Election Directors (NASED), Spanish news agency EFE and Reporters Without Borders, and said the work built on collaborations such as NewsGuard and ClaimReview. That initiative concerned access to trusted election information; it is distinct from the October 2024 announcement that the election experience’s results data would come from the AP.
Microsoft outlined the information-source effort in its November 7, 2023 announcement. The post does not make those organizations the source of Bing’s election results.

Was this a new Bing redesign?
Not in the broad sense. Microsoft described a wider Bing and Edge visual update in May 2023, with a streamlined look, rounded corners, organized containers and semi-transparent visual elements. That general interface update predates the election-specific modules and should not be confused with them.
The May 2023 post also reported more than 200 million images created with Bing Image Creator and more than 100 million daily active Bing users. Those were company-reported figures from 2023, not measurements of election-feature usage or current Bing activity. Microsoft’s description of the broader update appears in its May 4, 2023 blog post.

What is—and is not—known about availability now
The detailed election experience was announced for the 2024 U.S. election season. The October 2024 post does not establish that the same map or modules remain available today, so it is best understood as a description of a historical election feature rather than a current Bing interface guarantee.
Microsoft’s announcement also does not report a measured accuracy rate, performance result or evidence of voter impact. The AP attribution and refresh indicators explain how Microsoft said the feature would work; they do not, by themselves, establish those outcomes.
