Add a QR code as a graphic or broadcast overlay, then point it to a page viewers can use: a donation form, product page, affiliate offer, newsletter signup, or social profile or community. Test both the code and its destination before going live. If viewers might be watching on the same phone they would need to scan, also give them a link or say the destination aloud.
Five useful destinations for a livestream QR code
1. Collect donations or promote a fundraiser
Link the code directly to your donation form or fundraiser page. Explain what the fundraiser supports and what viewers should do; a code without a clear ask gives viewers little reason to scan. Check that the form opens and the donation route works before the stream. Blackbaud’s QR-code livestream instructions recommend adding the QR link as a content source in broadcasting software and testing it during the livestream.
2. Send viewers to a product or offer
Use a product page, shop, or offer page as the destination. This can give viewers a route to learn more or buy without interrupting the broadcast. Restream documents QR product cards and its Live Sales use cases, including launches, pre-orders, flash sales, and product demonstrations. Confirm the destination is current and that the offer’s terms are clear.
3. Promote an affiliate offer
A QR code can lead to a valid affiliate link, provided you are eligible for the program and follow its terms, disclosure requirements, and applicable platform rules. Restream describes affiliate links as a Live Sales use case. The program, commission, and eligibility depend on the relevant affiliate provider; they are not guaranteed by YouTube or by using a QR code.

4. Invite newsletter signups
Link to your newsletter signup page and briefly tell viewers what they will receive and how often, if you know that schedule. Restream’s materials identify newsletter subscriptions as a possible QR destination. The code simply opens the page: YouTube does not provide the signup through the QR code.
5. Grow a social profile or community
Send viewers to a social profile, website, or community page that is useful to them after the stream. StreamYard documents QR destinations for these types of pages and options to brand and label a QR code. Use a destination you control or have permission to promote, and make the label specific enough that viewers know where it leads.

- Double-Sided: The stand stands vertically, and the content can be displayed on both sides. You can see your important content from multiple angles, which greatly enhances the display effect of your content.
- Thickened Material: Each double-sided sign stand has a 9mm thick base, which provides excellent support, so your stand can stand firmly on any flat surface.
- High Transparent Material: Our sign stands are made of beautiful transparent acrylic, similar to glass, with excellent display effects. Due to the high transparency, the product is fragile, so please be careful when using it.
- Triangular Groove Stable Design: The panel triangular structure fits perfectly with the base triangular groove and stands stably.
- Multiple Applications: Acrylic sign stands are suitable for restaurant menus, offices, weddings, promotions, exhibitions, receptions, hotels, bars, etc. They can display advertisements, menus, flyers and brochures on both sides.
How to add and test a QR code
YouTube Studio does not generate the QR overlays described here. These examples use third-party studio or broadcast-software features; exact controls and plan availability vary by provider. For example, StreamYard documents a workflow for adding a QR widget from its studio, entering a destination URL, optionally adding a logo and label, adjusting colors, and putting it on stage. Its documentation says the feature is on paid plans and that the code can appear in recordings. Restream documents QR codes in its Studio workflow, including an option to send a selected product link to live chat. Blackbaud describes adding a QR link as a content source in broadcasting software.
- Choose the destination. Use the exact page viewers should reach, such as a donation form or signup page, rather than a general homepage when a more direct page is available.
- Create the code or widget. Use your streaming software’s QR feature if available, or import a QR-code graphic as a broadcast source. Check that the graphic is sharp and has enough contrast against its background.
- Add it to the broadcast layout. Place it where it does not cover important content. Include a short label that explains the destination or action.
- Check the viewer experience. Preview the broadcast on the devices and in the format your audience is likely to use. Test that the code scans and that the destination loads and works.
- Provide a backup route. Put a link in chat where available, or say the destination aloud. YouTube’s rules for chat links differ by live format, so do not rely on chat as the only route.
- Check the recording. If you save or publish the livestream recording, verify whether the QR remains visible and whether its destination will still be useful afterward.
Make the code usable for viewers on phones and TVs
A viewer watching on a phone cannot easily scan a QR code displayed on that same phone. Offer another way to reach the page: a clickable chat link when the format allows it, a spoken destination, or another route your audience can follow. Check the actual viewing experience rather than assuming every viewer can scan.

YouTube documents horizontal and vertical live formats. Clickable links in chat are available in horizontal live streams, but not in vertical live feeds; YouTube says viewers in the Shorts feed on mobile see the vertical version. For the format you plan to use, confirm whether chat links are available and test the link before relying on it.
TV viewing is also worth considering: YouTube reported that over 30% of live watch time in the U.S. came from connected TVs in 2025, in a blog post dated April 13, 2026. That figure applies to the U.S. and that year; it does not establish that any particular code design will scan well. Keep the code clear in the broadcast and test it on an appropriate screen.

- Beech base: The base of the acrylic sign holder is made of beech wood, which is more stable, more fashionable, safer, and not broken.
- Double-sided slotting: The base is double-sided slotted, one side is vertical, one side is 15° slope, and the content can be viewed on both sides when displayed vertically; When displayed diagonally, it is easy for people to see the content from a high place.
- High Transparency Acrylic Board: The acrylic board is made of high quality and high transparency acrylic, because the transparency is similar to glass, please place it carefully when using it to avoid breaking.
- Easy to use: Just put the printed content into the acrylic board, install the silicone strip, insert it into the base and use.
- Versatile: Because beech signs are easy to display your content, they are widely used in cafes, restaurants, shops, offices, schools, parties, etc.
Choose an implementation that fits the stream
Before choosing a QR workflow, check these practical differences in the current vendor documentation:
- Does the streaming service generate the code, or must you import a graphic?
- Can the selected destination also be sent to live chat?
- Is the feature available on your plan and in your live format?
- Do you need branding, a label, scan alerts, or product cards?
- Will the QR code remain in the recording?
StreamYard and Restream document different workflows and features, and their plans and tools can change. Confirm current availability with the provider before building the broadcast around a specific option.
