Here are ten releases to consider, chosen for their films, collections and editions—not as a ranking of picture or sound quality. The release calendar lists titles and packages, but does not provide the technical reviews needed to judge transfers, HDR or audio.
How to read the September 2026 4K Blu-ray release dates
The dates below follow HD Report’s US-oriented calendar, dated September 27, 2026. They are not UK street dates: for example, TechRadar’s UK preview lists Supergirl for September 7 in the UK, while the US calendar lists it for September 8. Check the listing for your region before ordering, since release dates and available editions can differ.

Packages also vary. A SteelBook is a case style, not a guarantee of particular disc contents; some listings specify Blu-ray, digital copies, multiple films or cuts, while others do not. Retail stock and limited-edition availability can change.
Ten September 2026 4K UHD releases to consider
September 1: 28 Days Later (2002)
HD Report lists a 4K UHD and digital SteelBook edition of Danny Boyle’s post-apocalyptic horror film. It is a natural candidate for horror fans who want this title in a collectible case; the calendar does not specify whether a standard edition is also available.

September 8: 12 Angry Men (1957)
Sidney Lumet’s courtroom drama is among the September 8 entries. The calendar identifies the title and date but does not give package details, so check the retailer listing for the exact edition and included discs.
September 8: Supergirl (2026)
The new DC film is listed in both standard and limited SteelBook editions for the US date of September 8. Choose based on whether you want the standard package or the SteelBook; the calendar does not establish any difference in disc specifications between them.
September 8: The Pink Panther Masterpiece Collection
This collection brings together five films across six discs, according to HD Report. It suits buyers looking for a multi-film set rather than a single title. The listing does not identify the films or spell out the format of each disc, so confirm the product details before purchase.
September 15: Out of the Past (1947)
Jacques Tourneur’s film noir is listed for September 15. It is a catalog pick for noir fans, though the calendar does not specify an edition style or disc configuration.
September 15: Tequila Sunrise (1988)
This crime drama appears on the September 15 slate. If you are weighing it against the other releases that week, the calendar gives a title and date but no further package or technical details.
September 22: Toy Story 5 (2026)
Pixar’s latest Toy Story film is listed as a limited SteelBook on September 22. The listing establishes the edition type, but not whether a standard version is available or what other media the package includes.
Rank #2
- Top Gun (Idolos del aire)
September 22: The Secret Agent (2025)
This 2025 film is another September 22 release. The calendar does not specify its edition, disc count or technical features, so check the exact product listing if those details matter to you.
September 29: Dead Poets Society (1989)
HD Report identifies this as a first-time 4K Blu-ray remaster, with a September 29 date. That is the calendar’s description; it does not provide a restoration source or technical assessment of the disc.
September 29: Frankenstein: Complete Legacy (1931–1948)
This eight-film collection spans Universal’s classic Frankenstein cycle and is listed for September 29. For collectors interested in the films as a set, its eight-film scope is the key distinction. Confirm the included titles and disc arrangement in the product listing.
Other releases on the month’s calendar
These ten are a selection, not the complete September slate. Other listed choices include A Bay of Blood, with four discs and three versions; Star Trek: First Contact in a 30th anniversary SteelBook; Interview with the Vampire in standard and SteelBook listings; and Jesus Christ Superstar, described by HD Report as a 4K restoration. The calendar also lists Mrs. Doubtfire as a first-time 4K Blu-ray remaster. For the week of September 29, HD Report says there are “about 20 new titles to choose from”—its approximate calendar tally, not an audited count of the month’s releases.

The calendars help identify dates, titles and some edition details; they are not disc-quality reviews. They do not establish which release has the best transfer, HDR, soundtrack or extras. TechRadar’s UK preview discusses releases it hoped to test, rather than completed test results. Treat technical claims in a retailer listing as specifications, not independent assessments, and look for a title-specific review if picture or sound performance will decide your purchase.
HD Report’s US calendar is at 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release dates. For territory context, see TechRadar’s UK-focused September preview. DoBlu separately lists the Peking Opera Blues limited SteelBook and Charlie Wilson’s War Collector’s Edition for their September dates in its 4K UHD Blu-ray release calendar; it is a cross-check for those editions, not evidence that any calendar is exhaustive.
