The Zotac ZBOX ID80 Plus is a 2012-era mini PC built around an Intel Atom D2700 processor and NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M graphics. Its launch configuration included 2 GB of memory and a 320 GB mechanical hard drive. It is best assessed today as a used, low-demand legacy machine—not as a current general-purpose desktop. It can take up to 4 GB of RAM and one 2.5-inch SATA drive no taller than 9.5 mm, but current operating-system compatibility, security support, used availability, and pricing are not established.

What is the Zotac ZBOX ID80 Plus?

The ID80 Plus was Zotac’s preconfigured version of the ID80: memory and storage came installed. Zotac’s product specification lists an Intel Atom D2700 dual-core processor running at 2.13 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M graphics with 512 MB, an Intel NM10 chipset, 2 GB DDR3 SO-DIMM memory, and a 320 GB 5400 RPM hard drive.

Its enclosure measures 188 × 188 × 44 mm (7.40 × 7.40 × 1.73 inches). The processor and graphics are period components, so their clock speeds and specifications should not be read as evidence of modern application or graphics performance.

What performance should you expect?

Contemporary reviews characterized the system’s performance as limited. TechRadar reported these results in its launch-era review: X264 v4 index score 3.56, Cinebench R11.5 index score 0.72, and SiSoft Sandra memory bandwidth of 4.15 GB/s. These are results from that review’s test setup, using benchmarks of the period—not current tests or a direct comparison with modern mini PCs. TechRadar’s review also noted that the machine shipped without an operating system installed.

Tom’s Hardware placed the ID80 platform in the nettops category of its time, describing the NM10 chipset’s older I/O limits and the GT 520M as an entry-level mobile GPU. That context helps explain the machine’s original positioning, but does not establish what current software it can run. Tom’s Hardware’s platform comparison lists the same basic configuration, including the Atom D2700, 2 GB RAM and 320 GB drive.

Can you upgrade the ID80 Plus with an SSD?

Yes, the official manual supports replacing the internal drive with one 2.5-inch SATA HDD or SSD, up to 9.5 mm tall. The manual specifies SATA at 3.0 Gb/s. Check the exact drive dimensions and interface before buying, and confirm the condition of the individual used unit; the documentation does not establish the health of a drive currently installed in one. Zotac’s ID80-series manual also specifies two 204-pin DDR3-1066 SO-DIMM sockets and a maximum of 4 GB of memory.

An SSD can replace the mechanical disk, but it does not change the processor, graphics capability, or official memory ceiling. Whether the cost of an upgrade makes sense depends on the unit’s price, condition, and intended workload; current used-market prices are not established.

What ports and accessories does it have?

Zotac’s specification lists HDMI supporting 1080p and eight-channel audio, dual-link DVI, HDCP, and VGA output through a DVI-to-VGA adapter. It also lists two rear USB 3.0 ports; four USB 2.0 ports across the front, top, and rear; Gigabit Ethernet; 802.11n Wi-Fi; Bluetooth 3.0; a six-in-one card reader; and digital S/PDIF.

What can the ID80 Plus still do?

The evidence supports describing it as an older, compact PC with basic legacy connectivity and modest launch-era performance. Whether a particular unit is suitable for a specific task depends on its condition and the software you intend to use. No current operating-system compatibility or security support has been established, so do not assume it can safely serve as an internet-connected computer for sensitive tasks.

Zotac Korea’s support page lists an ID80/ID80-Plus BIOS and update utility, a manual, quick installation guide, tested-memory list, and Windows 7-era driver categories. The page records BIOS revisions from 2012 addressing microcode, Java crashes, shutdown or standby, and CMOS password issues. The existence of those historical downloads does not show that a current operating system works on the PC or that present-day security updates are available. Zotac’s ID80 Plus support page is the relevant manufacturer archive.

What to check before buying a used unit

  • Configuration: Confirm it is the Plus model and check that the listed memory and storage are actually present; an old or modified unit may differ from its launch specification.
  • Drive and upgrade fit: Ask about the installed drive’s condition. If planning an SSD replacement, confirm it is a 2.5-inch SATA drive no taller than 9.5 mm.
  • Included parts: Verify the correct power adapter, Wi-Fi antenna, and any remote and USB IR receiver, VESA mount, stand, or video adapter you need.
  • Compatibility: Confirm that your display accepts HDMI or DVI, or that you have the appropriate adapter for another input. Check required peripherals against the available USB ports.
  • Software and security: Establish independently that the operating system and applications you intend to use are supported and can receive suitable security updates. The archived Windows 7-era support material is not proof of current support.
  • Total cost: Compare the asking price plus any needed drive, memory, adapter, or missing accessory against newer alternatives. Current prices and stock have not been established.
