Both Zapier and Make can turn an incoming webhook into a website screenshot and send the result to another service. Zapier has listed integrations that connect a webhook trigger to named screenshot-provider actions, so it may be the more direct route when one of those actions has the capture settings and output you need. Make’s documented route uses a custom webhook, an HTTP request to a screenshot API, and file-handling modules. That can suit workflows built around API requests or explicit event ordering. This is a comparison of documented capabilities, not a hands-on ease-of-use or performance test.

How the two workflows differ

Decision Zapier Make
Basic shape Catch Raw Hook → a listed screenshot-provider action → storage or another Zap action. Custom webhook → map the URL and other fields → HTTP request to a screenshot API → download or pass the image → storage or another module.
Screenshot step Zapier listings name screenshot actions from providers including ScreenshotOne, CaptureKit, GetScreenshot, and Urlbox. The action’s available options depend on the provider. The documented approach uses Make’s general HTTP and file-handling tools with a screenshot API. The cited Make documentation does not establish a native ScreenshotOne, CaptureKit, or Urlbox screenshot module.
Control over the request Use the fields exposed by the selected provider’s Zapier action. Build an API request and map its inputs and response to the rest of the scenario.
Image handoff Some listed actions pass a screenshot to later Zap steps; available response and delivery options vary by integration. Make documents downloading a file from a URL and mapping that file to a later module.
Cost comparison Comparable current Zapier plan and screenshot-provider prices are not established here. Comparable current Make plan and screenshot-provider prices are not established here.

The setup distinction is an inference from the integrations and platform documentation: Zapier may avoid some API-specific setup if its provider action fits, while Make exposes a general API-based route. Compare the actual action fields, authentication requirements, and file output rather than assuming one platform is universally easier.

Build it in Zapier with a listed screenshot action

A representative Zap is Catch Raw Hook → screenshot action → storage or follow-up action. Zapier lists webhook-to-screenshot workflows for several providers; these are provider-specific hosted services, not evidence that Zapier itself renders the screenshot.

Choose an action based on its controls

  • ScreenshotOne: its listing describes a Catch Raw Hook trigger and screenshot actions, with inputs including URL, selector, full-page behavior, output format, response type, and viewport dimensions. See the ScreenshotOne and Webhooks by Zapier listing.
  • CaptureKit: its Capture Website Screenshot action lists options such as viewport dimensions, format, full-page capture, scroll duration, wait condition, cookie-banner removal, selectors, and delay. See the CaptureKit listing.
  • GetScreenshot: its Take Website Screenshot action can pass an image to later Zap steps; the listing also describes an email-image action and options including full-page capture, width, and waits. Its Catch Raw Hook listing describes an unparsed request body with a 2 MB maximum; verify the current limit in the live listing before relying on it. See the GetScreenshot listing.
  • Urlbox: its Zapier listing describes URL screenshots, including full-page capture and options to save metadata or page data. See the Urlbox listing.

Map the incoming event and route the result

  1. Set up the webhook trigger and provide its URL to the application or service that sends the event. Confirm the actual payload format and which field contains the page URL.
  2. Add the screenshot provider action. Map the incoming URL into its URL field, then set only the capture options the workflow needs—for example, a selector, full-page capture, viewport, or wait condition if the selected action exposes them.
  3. Add a storage or follow-up action. Check whether the screenshot step provides an image/file, a URL, or another response format, and map the correct output rather than assuming every provider returns the same kind of result.
  4. Send a representative webhook and inspect the captured image and downstream action. Test edge cases such as a missing URL, a page that needs extra load time, or an unusually large incoming body.

Build it in Make with a custom webhook and HTTP request

Make’s documented pattern is Custom webhook → map fields → HTTP request to a screenshot API → download or pass the resulting file → storage or another module. Make documents instant custom webhooks, a general HTTP app for API integrations, and a file module for downloading a URL and mapping the returned file into a later step. The screenshot API determines the capture parameters and the shape of its response.

Configure the scenario

  1. Add a Webhooks > Custom webhook trigger and create the webhook URL. Make says an external service can call that URL to trigger the scenario; the webhook can optionally use API-key authentication. Send a sample event so Make can identify the fields to map. See Make’s Webhooks app documentation.
  2. Add an HTTP request to the screenshot API. Map the page URL and any required authentication or capture parameters according to that API’s documentation. Make’s HTTP app is intended for API integrations; it does not supply the screenshot service itself. See Make’s HTTP app documentation.
  3. Inspect the API response. If it returns an image URL, use Make’s HTTP Download a file module to retrieve the file; if the API returns file data directly, map the response as required by the next module. Make’s file guidance describes downloading a file from a URL and mapping it onward. See Make’s file-handling guidance.
  4. Connect a storage or follow-up module and map the actual file or URL output. Run a sample event through the full scenario and verify that the destination receives a usable image.

Webhook behavior and published limits

Make’s documentation says webhook-triggered executions start immediately by default and run in parallel unless the scenario is configured to process data in order. If screenshot jobs must be sequential—for example, because downstream updates depend on their order—configure ordered processing and test the whole scenario’s behavior. Make describes webhooks as instant triggers and says they allow data to be sent over HTTPS. Read Make’s Webhooks help documentation.

  • Make’s Webhooks app documentation lists a maximum custom webhook payload of 5 MB. Check the Webhooks app documentation.
  • Make’s Webhooks help page lists up to 300 incoming webhook requests per 10-second interval; excess requests receive HTTP 429. It also lists a maximum queue of 10,000 items per webhook, with the queue allowance dependent on usage.
  • The same Make help page lists webhook logs retained for 3 days, or 30 days for Enterprise.

These are Make-published limits, not performance benchmarks, and platform policies can change. Check the current documentation for your account and scenario before designing around them. The cited Zapier GetScreenshot listing describes a 2 MB raw-hook body maximum; that is specific to that listing and should also be rechecked.

Which should you choose?

Choose Zapier when a listed action fits

Start with Zapier if one of its listed screenshot-provider actions exposes the capture options you need and returns an output your next step can use. A named action can reduce the API-specific configuration in the scenario, but the provider still determines the available capture settings and response behavior.

Choose Make when the API route or event handling fits

Start with Make if you want to make a general API request, map the response into file-handling steps, or configure webhook executions to process in order. Verify how the screenshot API handles authentication, image delivery, and failures before building downstream steps around it.

Do not choose on price without calculating your workflow

The available evidence does not establish comparable current plan costs or screenshot API pricing. Estimate your monthly webhook volume, expected screenshots, retries, and storage or follow-up operations, then check current prices for both the automation platform and the screenshot provider. Neither can be called the cheaper option without those figures.

For a Make HTTP module or another caller, one GET request can return a screenshot. This cURL example saves a WebP image of Stripe:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

In the webhook scenario, replace the example page URL with the mapped URL from the incoming event and supply your API key securely. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; those cleanup steps can be turned off. Bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server provides the tools take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for AI agents using Claude, Cursor, or another MCP client. Troubleshooting the webhook-to-image flow

Symptom Likely cause What to check
The scenario or Zap does not start. The sender is calling the wrong webhook URL, or the trigger has not received a sample event. Check the exact URL configured at the sender and send a fresh event. In Make, confirm that the custom webhook is active and that the scenario is listening or scheduled as intended.
The screenshot request has no page URL. The incoming payload field was mapped incorrectly or is absent in some events. Inspect a real sample payload, map its URL field explicitly, and add a validation or error route for missing or malformed URLs.
The destination receives a link but no image, or the reverse. The provider response is a URL, file, or data payload different from what the next module expects. Inspect the screenshot action or HTTP response, then pass a file to file-based storage or download a returned URL before mapping the file onward.
The screenshot is blank or incomplete. The page may not have finished rendering, or the capture settings may not cover the required content. Use a provider’s available wait condition, delay, selector, or full-page option; verify the target URL and test a representative page before processing live events.
Webhook events arrive but some executions are rejected or delayed. Payload or request-rate limits, queues, or concurrent execution behavior may be involved. Check the platform’s current limits and logs. For Make, account for its published request interval, queue maximum, and parallel-by-default behavior; configure ordered processing if sequence matters.
The workflow runs but costs more than expected. Automation operations, screenshot-provider usage, retries, or storage steps may each affect total cost. Trace a typical event through every step and calculate volume using current platform and provider pricing. The available figures here do not support a cost comparison between Zapier and Make.
