YTS moved from YTS.am to YTS.lt on June 23, 2019—not recently. Contemporary reporting said the change was quiet, with no public explanation from YTS, and that the old address reportedly redirected to the new one.
The move does not mean YTS has used .LT continuously ever since. Later reporting described further domain changes, and current claims about the official address remain inconsistent and independently unverified.
What happened in June 2019?
YTS.am reportedly changed its primary address to YTS.lt on June 23, 2019. Outside observers reported the change rather than an operator announcement, and said the old .AM address redirected visitors to .LT. (TechWorm)
The .LT suffix is Lithuania’s country-code top-level domain, or ccTLD. It identifies the domain namespace associated with Lithuania; it does not, by itself, prove that a website’s operators are based there or that the site is officially connected to Lithuania.

The move followed earlier YTS-related domain changes. Contemporary coverage noted that the service had changed addresses repeatedly after the original YIFY group stopped operating in 2015. A familiar brand name or working redirect is not enough to establish that a replacement domain is genuine. (Contemporary reporting)
Was a lawsuit the reason for the move?
Possibly, but YTS never confirmed that. A lawsuit filed in Hawaii in May 2019 named YTS.am and YIFYMovies.is and alleged copyright infringement involving several films. Reports suggested the legal action might have influenced the change, but contemporary coverage said YTS had not explained why it moved. The lawsuit’s role remains speculation, not an established cause. (TechWorm)

YTS domain timeline
| Date or period | Reported domain event | What can be established |
|---|---|---|
| 2015 | The original YIFY group stopped operating. | Later YTS branding and domain changes were reported in that context. |
| June 23, 2019 | YTS.am moved to YTS.lt. | The old address reportedly redirected to .LT; YTS did not publicly confirm the reason. |
| 2020 | YTS later moved from .LT to .MX. | Later reporting makes it incorrect to describe .LT as the uninterrupted primary domain. |
| Later years | YTS was also associated in reports with other domains, including .BZ. | Domain history does not independently prove ownership or authenticity. |
| June 2026 | A report described YTS.LT and YTS.BZ as active addresses. | This was a third-party report, not an operator announcement. |
What is the current YTS domain?
There is no single independently verified answer in the available sources. A page presenting itself as the official YTS/YIFY status page labels YTS.BZ the “Current official domain” while also listing YTS.LT as operational. That establishes what the page claims, but does not prove who operates the page or either domain. (YTS/YIFY status page)
Cloudflare’s domain-monitoring page reports YTS.LT as active and resolving through Cloudflare, with a TLS certificate observed from May 12, 2026. These observations indicate reported availability, not official ownership. (Cloudflare Radar)

How to evaluate a replacement domain
- Check the date of the claim. A headline saying YTS “has just moved to .LT” may be recycling the June 2019 event.
- Separate availability from authenticity. A domain that loads, redirects, or has a valid TLS certificate is not automatically an official YTS domain.
- Look for independent corroboration. Do not rely on a single status page, search result, social-media post, or redirect.
- Be cautious with copied branding. Multiple YTS-related domains have appeared over time; the YTS or YIFY name alone does not establish a common operator.
- Do not enter sensitive information unnecessarily. Unverified sites may use familiar branding while collecting passwords, payment details, notification permissions, or malicious downloads.
There is no documented application workflow, command, software setting, or special browser procedure associated with the 2019 move. The reported event was a change in web-domain resolution and redirection, not a software update.
Why the wording matters
The .LT move was real, but historical. The Hawaii lawsuit was real, but its role in the move was not confirmed. YTS.LT may be reported as active, but activity does not prove that it is the current official address. Not every YTS-branded domain should be assumed to belong to the same operator.

Why did YTS move from .AM to .LT?
YTS did not publicly confirm a reason. A Hawaii copyright lawsuit filed in May 2019 was reported as a possible factor, but it has not been established as the cause.
Does .LT mean the site is based in Lithuania?
No. .LT is Lithuania’s country-code top-level domain. The suffix identifies the domain namespace, not necessarily the operator’s location.
Is YTS.LT the current official YTS domain?
Current claims are inconsistent. A page presenting itself as the official status page labels YTS.BZ as the current official domain, while other pages report YTS.LT as active. Neither claim is independently verified by an operator announcement.
Did YTS stay on .LT after 2019?
No. Later reporting said YTS moved from .LT to .MX in 2020 and was subsequently associated with other domains, including .BZ.
