The reports name some affected staff but do not establish how many people lost their jobs or why. They also did not include a studio statement detailing the cuts.
What has been reported about the layoffs?
Gamer24H reported on October 6 that multiple Yellow Brick Games employees had posted about being laid off. A separate Techtroduce report dated October 7 also described employees publicly confirming job losses. Both accounts are secondary reporting; they do not establish the complete scope of the layoffs.
Gamer24H names five people and their roles: Senior Environment and Hard Surface Artist Derian McCrea, Graphics Engineer Adam Clapsaddle, Software Programmer Rebecca Bélanger, QA Lead Jessica Chapados Arseneault, and Senior Level Designer Julien Tonsuso. Techtroduce independently names Jessica Chapados Arseneault and Adam Clapsaddle. These names should be understood as those reported, not as a confirmed complete list of affected employees. Gamer24H’s October 6 report says it was relying on Rock Paper Shotgun’s reporting and that the total impact was unclear.
How many employees were laid off?
The total number is not established by the reports. Gamer24H identifies five employees, but neither its account nor Techtroduce’s says that those named represent everyone affected. The studio’s April 2024 announcement said it had 68 developers at that time; that historical figure cannot be used to calculate current staffing or the number of layoffs. Yellow Brick Games’ 2024 announcement provides that dated team figure.

Why were Yellow Brick Games staff laid off?
The reason has not been publicly established in the reports reviewed. They also do not state when the layoffs occurred beyond the timing of employees’ public comments, whether severance was offered, or what the cuts mean for the studio’s next project. It would be premature to infer that Yellow Brick Games is closing or that development has stopped.
Has Yellow Brick Games responded?
The October 6 Gamer24H report said Rock Paper Shotgun had contacted Yellow Brick Games and was awaiting comment. Techtroduce, on October 7, likewise said there was no studio statement detailing the scale or reason. Those reports do not establish whether the company has responded since they were published, so readers should check the studio’s official channels for any later update.

The studio’s press room is the source for that company background.
The studio’s debut game, Eternal Strands, was released on January 28, 2025. Yellow Brick Games is listed as both developer and publisher. The fantasy action-adventure is a single-player, third-person game for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S. Its official description highlights magic, weapons and armor crafted from enemies, environmental effects such as heat and cold, destructible surroundings, and encounters with giant creatures. What does the studio’s earlier team size tell us?
Yellow Brick Games said it had 68 developers when it announced Eternal Strands on April 2, 2024. That number is useful only as a snapshot of the team at the time; it is not a current headcount and says nothing by itself about the scale of the reported layoffs. The studio’s launch announcement also identified founders Thomas Giroux, Jeff Skalski, Mike Laidlaw, and Frédéric St-Laurent B. The announcement is available in the studio’s press room.
