XtalPi says Kodexia links AI-guided siRNA design with automated laboratory experiments, using experimental results to refine later designs. The company announced the platform on October 6, 2026, alongside six preclinical programs; its performance figures and program updates are company-reported, not independently validated.
What is Kodexia?
Kodexia is XtalPi’s proprietary research platform for discovering small interfering RNA (siRNA) candidates. It is not a consumer AI tool or a treatment available to patients. XtalPi describes it as a closed-loop system that combines computational design, biological modeling, and automated experiments.
siRNA discovery involves designing short RNA sequences intended to engage RNA interference biology and reduce the activity of a selected target. For a candidate to work beyond a computer model, its sequence and chemical properties must be tested in biological systems. Kodexia’s central proposition is to connect those design and testing stages, rather than treating them as separate steps.
How does the closed loop work?
XtalPi identifies siFormer as Kodexia’s core architecture. The company says it incorporates RNA interference biology and nucleic-acid chemistry, including RNA thermodynamics and structural features related to strand loading, target accessibility, and gene silencing. These considerations are intended to steer sequence generation toward designs that are biologically plausible.

- Identify a target region. The product description says the platform applies AI to target-region discovery, helping identify where an siRNA might act.
- Design sequences and modifications together. Rather than optimize a sequence in isolation, XtalPi says Kodexia integrates sequence design with recommendations for chemical modifications. Its stated objectives include potency, durability, in-vivo translation, off-target activity, safety, and patentability.
- Test candidates experimentally. Automated laboratories run experiments on selected designs. XtalPi says its facilities perform both in-vitro and in-vivo work as part of the workflow.
- Feed results back into modeling. Experimental outcomes inform subsequent model iterations, creating a continuing design-test-refine cycle.
- Explore delivery and development options. XtalPi’s product description includes delivery optimization and intellectual-property planning, as well as research on dual-target siRNA and delivery approaches such as antibody, peptide, or small-molecule conjugates and lipid nanoparticles.
The practical distinction XtalPi emphasizes is integration: computational sequence and modification design are connected to experimental validation and feedback. The company’s 2025 annual-report disclosure, filed in April 2026, had already described Kodexia as an AI-powered siRNA sequence-discovery and chemical-modification platform with a closed-loop workflow. It also mentioned work on in-vivo efficacy prediction, extrahepatic delivery, and dual-target siRNA, so the October announcement formalized and broadened public platform and pipeline claims rather than introducing the name for the first time.

The lead program concerns immunoglobulin A (IgA) nephropathy, a kidney disease. Non-human-primate efficacy data are preclinical evidence, not proof of benefit or safety in people. XtalPi characterized the program as an early empirical validation of Kodexia’s unified architecture; the announcement does not provide independent confirmation of that interpretation.
What do the claims establish—and what remains uncertain?
The announcement establishes what XtalPi says it has built and what it reports about its experiments and programs. The reviewed company materials and secondary coverage do not independently validate the nearly threefold efficiency claim, the first-round activity figure, or the lead program’s comparisons with a stated industry timeline. Those figures should therefore be read as company claims, not as neutral industry-wide measurements.

The materials also do not establish a head-to-head ranking of Kodexia against other siRNA discovery platforms. Useful comparison dimensions include whether a platform integrates sequence and modification design, incorporates experimental feedback, optimizes several biological and development goals, supports dual-target designs, and addresses delivery beyond the liver. XtalPi describes work in these areas, but the available evidence does not show that Kodexia outperforms competitors across them.
For biotech and pharmaceutical organizations, XtalPi’s product page says the company welcomes strategic collaboration, licensing, and asset co-development. That indicates potential partnership routes, but does not by itself establish the terms or availability of a specific opportunity.

Why the announcement matters
Kodexia is notable as a company-described attempt to bring computational design and automated experimental learning into one siRNA discovery workflow. Its announced pipeline and non-human-primate data make the platform more than a software concept, but the evidence presented remains early and company-reported. Independent validation and later-stage development would be needed to determine whether the reported speed and activity translate into durable advantages or medicines that work in patients.
