The top configuration was reported at 25.6 Tbps, with a 12.8 Tbps variant also described. The announcement is historical: the available sources do not establish that X1 is currently for sale.
What Xsight announced about X1
In its December 9, 2020 report, EE Times described Xsight Labs’ X1 as a switch-silicon family with 100G SerDes and two stated throughput configurations. Xsight said silicon, evaluation platforms and a software development kit (SDK) were available to qualified alpha customers. That describes sampling, not broad commercial availability.
| Reported X1 configuration | Throughput | Power claim reported in 2020 |
|---|---|---|
| Top configuration | 25.6 Tbps, with 100G SerDes | Less than 300 W, as stated by Xsight and reported by EE Times |
| Lower-throughput variant | 12.8 Tbps | 200 W, as stated by Xsight and reported by EE Times |
These are announcement-era product claims, not independently measured results. They should not be treated as a guarantee for a deployed system: the report does not provide a common test method or complete system configuration for comparing power.
How to interpret the power comparison
Xsight’s vice president of marketing and business development, Rajagopal Krishnaswamy, said the company could find no public competitor documentation claiming less than 350 W for a 25.6 Tbps switch. That was Xsight’s description of its search through public documents in 2020, not an independent, market-wide benchmark. It does not establish that every competing switch consumed at least 350 W or that the compared products used identical configurations.

Features Xsight highlighted
Shared packet buffer
Xsight presented a fully shared packet buffer as a differentiator. CEO Guy Koren explained the design by saying “any port has full access to the full buffer.” This describes the company’s architectural claim; the announcement does not include independent performance testing of the feature.
Telemetry and software
The report also highlighted silicon-level telemetry and an SDK built with multilayer APIs and reference applications. Xsight said its software was compatible with OCP SAI and the SONiC network operating system, positioning the switch for software-driven data-center networking.

Physical format
Koren said, “We can do it in 1RU,” referring to a one-rack-unit form factor. The report said the design could still use copper. It does not specify connector type or establish that a particular copper cable is compatible.
Sampling did not identify customers or deployments
Xsight described X1 silicon, evaluation platforms and the SDK as available to qualified alpha customers. The executives quoted in the EE Times report did not name those customers. The announcement therefore supports a claim of qualified-customer sampling, not a claim of a named customer deployment or broad production availability.

Do not confuse X1 with X2
X1 is the product discussed in the 2020 sampling announcement. Xsight’s current product page describes X2 as its second-generation X-Switch family and lists throughput up to 12.8 Tbps. X2’s published figure should not be substituted for X1’s announced 25.6 Tbps specification; they are different generations.
There is also a later system announcement: in August 2026, Netberg announced Aurora X2 systems and stated planned general availability for Q4 2026. Netberg’s announcement concerns an X2-based system, not evidence that X1 became generally available.

What a buyer or engineer can conclude
The announcement is useful as a record of what Xsight said it was sampling in 2020: a 25.6 Tbps X1 configuration with 100G SerDes, a 12.8 Tbps variant, claimed power figures, a shared-buffer design, telemetry and software intended to work with SONiC and OCP SAI. It is not enough to make a present-day purchasing decision or a like-for-like comparison with other switches. For that, compare current system specifications at matching throughput and configuration, and distinguish vendor claims from independent measurements.
