Its glasses connect to a separate compute puck, so it is a complete Android XR device rather than a simple external display.
XREAL is targeting fall 2026. Reservations have opened, but the exact launch date, final configurations and regional retail prices are still pending.
Why Project Aura is an official Android XR device
XREAL introduced Project Aura in May 2025 as Android XR’s second official device and the platform’s first optical-see-through XR product. Google later described AURA as XREAL’s first wired XR glasses powered by Android XR and Snapdragon Reality Elite.
The distinction from ordinary display glasses is the separate compute puck. The puck runs Android XR and supplies Snapdragon Reality Elite processing, while the glasses contain XREAL’s X1S spatial coprocessor and the sensors needed to anchor digital content in space.
#1 Best Overall
- XREAL's Self-Developed X1 Spatial Computing Chip: Delivers Native 3DoF tracking with ultra-low 3ms M2P latency, ensuring stable visuals even during rapid movements. With the optional XREAL Eye, full 6DoF spatial anchoring. It delivers high processing power, seamless compatibility with devices, and distortion-free visuals through advanced stabilization.
- The New Optic Engine-X-Prism Optics: XREAL’s advanced lens and projection system—ultra-slim, precision-engineered optics that project a large, sharp virtual screen right in front of your eyes, while still letting you see your real surroundings clearly. With a best-in-class 57° FOV, Optic Engine 4.0 recreates the feeling of watching a massive 171-inch screen from four meters away—all in lightweight, compact design. Its advanced anti-glare design minimizes reflections and light interference, enhancing clarity and immersion.
- Experience True AR with 6 DoF, Spatial Anchor Anytime: Pairing with XREAL Eye, anchor your screen anywhere in your room, so it stays perfectly fixed in place—even as you walk around, lean in, or change your position. Unlike 3DoF, which keeps the screen at a constant distance relative to your head movements, 6DoF keeps your virtual screen locked to a real spot in your space for true spatial freedom and a more natural, immersive AR experience.
- REAL 3D – Turn everything you watch into an immersive 3D experience: REAL 3D Now Available on All One Series Glasses, instantly transforming all your content—from games and movies to apps and photos—into true 3D with a single switch. Experience richer depth and lifelike visuals across everything you watch or play.
- 57°FOV, 171'' Spatial Screen – More Immersive Visual Experience: Experience a virtual screen starting at 171 inches wide, filling your view with blockbuster visuals, thanks to XREAL’s advanced optics and industry-leading 57° FOV. Powered by Sony’s 0.55' Micro-OLED display technology and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, get swept into your games or movies with immersion that rivals traditional home theaters—without the size, setup, or space concerns.
How the glasses-and-puck design works
The glasses
AURA uses a 70-degree X Prism optical-see-through display. You look through the lenses at the real world directly while digital windows and objects are overlaid in your view, rather than seeing a camera feed of the surroundings.
The compute puck
The wired puck provides the main Android XR computer, battery and storage. XREAL lists two memory and storage configurations:
| Configuration | Memory | Storage |
|---|---|---|
| Base configuration | 12 GB | 256 GB |
| Higher configuration | 16 GB | 512 GB |
XREAL lists a 4,455 mAh (34.84 Wh) battery for the compute system. The glasses remain tethered to the puck, so this is not a self-contained headset or a completely wireless pair of glasses.

- YOUR PRIVATE 147” BIG SCREEN, ANYWHERE — Plug the a01+ into your phone, tablet, handheld, or laptop and a giant 147” screen appears in front of you—for movies, gaming, or getting work done on the couch, on a flight, or in bed. A true portable display you wear, in a soda-can-sized 210g case that drops in your pocket.
- ALWAYS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU — The screen follows your view with smooth, stabilized tracking and stays centered as you look around—nothing to anchor or set up, and no drift to reset. Press play and your big screen is simply there.
- 62G — LIGHT ENOUGH TO FORGET — At just 62g, with three nose-pad sizes and flexible temples, the a01+ stays comfortable through a long movie or flight, even lying down.
- LOOKS LIKE SUNGLASSES, NOT A GADGET — A slim, sunglasses-style frame with a signature semi-transparent chassis and neon logo—light and low-profile enough to actually wear out.
- WORKS WITH YOUR USB-C GEAR — No Battery to Charge — Connects and powers over a single USB-C DisplayPort cable: iPhone 15/16/17, iPad, DP-capable Android phones, Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Mac and PC. Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 and older (Lightning) iPhones need an adapter. For long phone sessions, add the XREAL Hub to charge and watch at once.
Display, tracking and hardware specifications
The following figures are specifications published by XREAL for AURA; they are not independent measurements.
| Component | XREAL’s listed specification |
|---|---|
| Optical system | 70-degree X Prism optical-see-through field of view |
| Panels | Sony Micro-OLED, 1,920 × 1,200 pixels per eye |
| Refresh rate | Up to 120 Hz |
| World sensing | Two world-facing tracking cameras |
| Spatial features | 6DoF spatial anchoring and hand tracking |
| Transparency control | Five levels of electrochromic transparency |
| Audio and voice input | Four-microphone array |
| Privacy indicator | Camera privacy LED |
| Glasses processor | XREAL X1S spatial coprocessor |
| Connectivity | USB-C, DisplayPort input, Wi-Fi 6/6E and Bluetooth 5.3 |
Optical see-through is the central hardware difference from camera-passthrough headsets: AURA’s transparency lets the wearer continue viewing the physical environment directly. The electrochromic system provides five transparency levels for changing how much of that environment is visible behind digital content.

XREAL says Google Play on AURA provides access to apps including Google Maps, YouTube, Gemini, Chrome and Photos, along with more than 100 applications built specifically for XR. The exact app behavior and catalog can change as Android XR software develops.
Gemini assistance
Gemini is integrated through Android XR. With the wearer’s permission, it can interpret what the cameras see, what is displayed on screen and relevant surrounding context. That makes the assistant multimodal, but its operation depends on the permissions granted and the software available at launch.

Price ceiling, not a confirmed street price
XREAL’s product page states that the final retail price for the base model will be no more than US$1,500 before tax. This is a maximum, not a confirmed final price. The price of the higher-memory configuration, taxes, regional pricing and any prescription accessories have not been published in the available product information.
Does AURA need a compute puck?
Yes. The glasses are designed to operate with the wired compute puck, which runs Android XR and contains the Snapdragon Reality Elite platform, memory, storage and listed battery. AURA therefore trades the bulk of a self-contained headset for a glasses-plus-puck setup, while retaining a cable between the two parts.
Is XREAL AURA on Amazon?
No researched source confirms an Amazon listing or a general retail release. The dependable availability information is XREAL’s own reservation and product pages. Until XREAL publishes retail listings, treat third-party marketplace pages as unverified and check the seller, region, configuration and return terms carefully.

What is still unknown
- Exact launch date and country-by-country availability
- Final hardware configurations and the price of each one
- Independent battery-runtime, comfort and optical-quality results
- What is included in the retail box, including prescription inserts
- Whether and when AURA will receive listings from Amazon or other retailers
Until those details are published or independently tested, AURA’s capabilities and specifications should be understood as XREAL and Google’s announced claims rather than a finished retail review.
