“Pro” does not mean longer support
Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro’s listed support is substantially shorter than Xiaomi Pad 7’s: Android 16–17 and security updates through March 2028, versus Android 16–19 and March 2031. Redmi Pad 2 Pro is listed through October 2032, while the older-named Redmi Pad Pro 5G is listed only through August 2027 and Android 15–16. Do not treat names in the same family as a support guarantee.
Android upgrades and security updates are different
A major Android-version range describes operating-system upgrades; the security EOL date describes how long Xiaomi currently lists security-update support. One does not substitute for the other. When comparing tablets, consider both: how far the listed Android versions go, and the date security updates are scheduled to end.

Xiaomi’s general support policy says it typically maintains security updates for at least two years after a model’s first shipment, and that some models may receive support for three years or longer depending on actual conditions. Do rollout dates tell you when support ends?
No. A rollout window describes when an update is expected to begin reaching devices, not the final date a device receives security updates. Xiaomi’s global HyperOS 3 page placed Xiaomi Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro in the October–November 2025 rollout group, and Redmi Pad 2, Redmi Pad 2 Pro, and Redmi Pad 2 Pro 5G in the November–December 2025 group. Xiaomi says the model list and schedule may change, releases may be gradual, and availability can vary by region. These windows are past rollout periods, not current guarantees of availability. - Check the support table: Match the complete model name and, where applicable, regional variant against Xiaomi’s Security Center table. Do not infer the schedule from a similar product name.
- Check the installed Android version: Xiaomi’s Redmi Pad Pro guidance says to open Settings > About tablet. Xiaomi update FAQ.
- Check for a HyperOS update: For Redmi Pad Pro, Xiaomi lists Settings > About tablet > Xiaomi HyperOS > Check for updates. A staged release may not appear on every device at the same time.

- Compare the exact model names, including “Pro,” “5G,” and generation numbers.
