The Xiaomi 17 is the better fit if you want a smaller phone; the Motorola Signature gives you a much larger, faster-refreshing screen and Motorola’s stated commitment to up to seven years of OS upgrades and security patches. Xiaomi has the higher listed battery capacity, but that alone does not establish longer battery life. There is no reliable universal price difference: available figures refer to different storage tiers and markets.

Screen size, handling, and refresh rate
Choose Xiaomi for a more compact phone
At 6.3 inches and a listed width of 71.8 mm, the Xiaomi 17 is the more compact option in this comparison. It may be easier to handle one-handed or fit into a smaller pocket, though comfort depends on your hands and case choice.

Choose Motorola for more screen area
The Signature’s 6.8-inch display gives you more room for reading, video, and split-screen use. Motorola advertises a 165 Hz refresh rate, which can make supported motion look smoother; it does not guarantee that every app or task will run at that rate. Its listed body is thinner and 5 g lighter than the Xiaomi 17 despite the larger screen, according to PhoneArena’s comparison data.
Battery capacity is not a battery-life test
The Xiaomi 17’s listed 6,330 mAh capacity is greater than the Signature’s official 5,200 mAh capacity. Xiaomi’s India product page describes a silicon-carbon battery, while Motorola specifies a silicon-carbon battery for the Signature. Capacity alone cannot tell you which phone lasts longer: display size, refresh rate, software, signal strength, and usage all affect endurance. The cited sources do not provide a matched battery test of these two phones.

Performance and software support
Compare the local configurations, not just the chip names
Motorola lists the Signature with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor and 12 GB or 16 GB of RAM. Xiaomi’s investor-relations statement covers the Xiaomi 17 Series platform, while PhoneArena attributes Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 to the Xiaomi 17 base model. Because series-level statements and regional SKUs may not match every market, confirm the processor, RAM, and storage on the exact model listing before buying. These specifications do not by themselves establish a benchmark or real-world speed advantage.
Motorola makes the clearer support commitment
Motorola’s Signature support specification states up to seven years of OS upgrades and security patches. That is a manufacturer commitment, not a claim that seven years of updates have already been delivered. The sources cited here do not establish a directly comparable Xiaomi 17 support term.

What is the price difference?
There is no single global price difference to quote without choosing a country and matching the configurations. PhoneArena’s comparison snapshot, crawled approximately June 2026, lists €999 for the Xiaomi 17 with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage, and €1,000 for the Motorola Signature with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage. Those are different memory/storage tiers, and the figures are not a current local checkout comparison.
For India, 91mobiles shows marketplace price snapshots rather than a like-for-like global MSRP comparison. Marketplace prices can change and may depend on seller and offer; check the page for the current listing and exact configuration: 91mobiles Xiaomi 17 vs Motorola Signature.

To make a useful local comparison, check the same country, storage tier, seller type, warranty terms, and date. A manufacturer list price and a temporary marketplace offer are not equivalent.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which phone should you buy?
- Pick Xiaomi 17 if you prioritize a smaller body and want the higher listed battery capacity. Treat capacity as a specification, not a promise of longer runtime.
- Pick Motorola Signature if you prefer a larger 6.8-inch screen, value the advertised 165 Hz refresh rate, or place particular importance on Motorola’s stated support period.
- Compare prices locally before deciding if cost is the deciding factor. The available euro figures differ in storage configuration, and India marketplace listings are region- and seller-specific.
For Motorola’s overview of display, battery, camera, charging, and support claims, see its UK Signature overview published September 8, 2026. Manufacturer claims about features or endurance should not be mistaken for a direct independent comparison between the phones.
