Valiant Hearts: Coming Home is the surprise Ubisoft arrival identified by LEVEL UP, while the same outlet reports that horror game Don’t Fret is planned as a day-one Game Pass release sometime this winter. Xbox’s general day-one policy covers Ultimate and PC Game Pass, but its official pages reviewed do not independently confirm either title’s specific Game Pass status.
What surprise Ubisoft game was added to Xbox Game Pass?
LEVEL UP reports that Valiant Hearts: Coming Home, a sequel to Valiant Hearts: The Great War, appeared on Xbox Game Pass without a prior announcement. The outlet says Game Pass Ultimate members can play it at no additional cost. Its article describes a World War I story following James and the Harlem Hellfighters, presented as a side-scrolling mix of exploration, puzzles, and action. LEVEL UP’s report is the source for the surprise-addition and subscription claims; the official Xbox pages reviewed do not independently confirm this specific catalog listing.
What day-one game is coming to Game Pass this winter?
LEVEL UP reports that Don’t Fret is planned as a day-one Game Pass release and is expected sometime during winter. The report says Digital Pajamas confirmed the seasonal window after the game appeared in a horror showcase. It does not give an exact release date, so “this winter” is the only timing available in that report.
What is Don’t Fret?
The Xbox Store listing identifies Digital Pajamas as publisher and Scary Kid Studios as developer. It describes a single-player horror game for PC and Xbox Series X|S in which players wake as Fret, a sentient guitar trapped at Harmonic Heights music school, and use stealth, sound, and music-based puzzles. The listing establishes the game’s description and platforms, but does not say it is included with Game Pass.

Which Game Pass tier includes day-one games?
Xbox’s Game Pass information page says day-one games are included with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, not Premium or Essential. Xbox also says Premium subscribers can play new Xbox-published games within one year of launch, excluding Call of Duty titles. This is the general tier policy; it does not independently verify LEVEL UP’s claim about Don’t Fret.
How to check whether either game is available to you
Game Pass availability is not uniform or permanent. Xbox says titles and availability vary over time, by region, plan, and platform. Check the live Game Pass catalog for your country and device before subscribing or assuming either game is playable under your plan. The LEVEL UP report supports the claims about Valiant Hearts: Coming Home and the planned Don’t Fret release; availability can change after that report.
