You configure the dashboard by adding modules in a config.yml file; it is designed to surface information you want at a glance, not to replace your command shell or act as a physical system-monitoring device.
What is WTF?
The project describes WTF as “the personal information dashboard for your terminal, providing at-a-glance access to your very important but infrequently-needed stats and data.” In practice, it is a configurable utility for bringing selected services and information into a terminal interface. The project calls each unit of functionality a module.
Examples in the repository include DigitalOcean, GitHub, Google Calendar, HackerNews, Have I Been Pwned, NewRelic, OpsGenie, Security, Transmission, and Trello. These are examples, not a guaranteed current or exhaustive list. See the WTF project repository for the project’s documentation and module information.
How do you install wtfutil?
The official quick-start presents Homebrew and a standalone binary as straightforward starting points. The repository also documents Go installation, MacPorts, building from source, Docker, and an Arch User Repository package. These are software installation options; WTF does not require a special physical device or accessory.

- Includes Raspberry Pi 5 with 2.4Ghz 64-bit quad-core CPU (8GB RAM)
- Includes 128GB Micro SD Card pre-loaded with 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS, USB MicroSD Card Reader
- CanaKit Turbine Black Case for the Raspberry Pi 5
- CanaKit Low Noise Bearing System Fan
- Mega Heat Sink - Black Anodized
- Choose an installation route. For Homebrew, the quick-start command is
brew install wtfutil. Alternatively, download and run a standalone binary. Other operating systems and workflows can use the routes listed in the repository. - Launch WTF. The quick-start says it opens with a default, simple configuration.
- Customize the dashboard. Follow the official quick-start and configuration documentation to select modules and configure them.
Package versions may not arrive at the same time: the README notes that the Homebrew core recipe can lag behind releases and describes a project tap for newer releases. Check the repository’s installation guidance if getting a recent release matters to you.
How do you add modules to WTF?
Modules are selected and configured in config.yml. Add the module you want there, then use that module’s documentation for its specific settings. Because modules connect to different services and expose different information, there is no single set of configuration fields that applies to all of them. Consult the module documentation linked from the project repository rather than assuming an example configuration will work unchanged.

What keyboard shortcuts does WTF use?
The official quick-start lists these controls:
Qorq: quit.Ctrl-R: force all modules to refresh.Esc: remove focus from the currently focused widget.TaborShift-Tab: move between focusable modules.
The quick-start also documents command-line options to choose a configuration file, display general help, request help for a named module when supported, and show version information. Run the program’s help option or consult the quick-start documentation for the exact usage details.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What should you know about project status?
The README says WTF is maintained informally by volunteers and makes no guarantee that reported bugs will be fixed or requested features implemented. That is the project’s stated maintenance policy, not an independent assessment of its code quality or security.
