Marvel’s Wolverine on PS5 offers controls for visual comfort, text and enemy visibility, audio access, captions, controller demands, and gameplay assistance—not just visual filters. This guide explains what each documented option changes so you can choose what to adjust. Insomniac’s feature list was dated June 2, 2026; its latest listed update reviewed here is 1.002.001, dated October 6, 2026. Options and behavior can vary with installed updates.
Where these settings fit
Marvel’s Wolverine is a single-player, narrative-driven game developed by Insomniac Games for PS5; PlayStation says it is not available for PS4. Its accessibility options cover visual, audio, motor, gameplay, and content preferences. Insomniac documents the features, while PlayStation’s accessibility tags describe broader support such as full subtitles and captions. A tag does not necessarily correspond to a menu option with the same name.
Insomniac’s list does not establish a specific menu path for every option, so use the in-game Accessibility settings rather than relying on an undocumented sequence of buttons. The official list also marks some features as update additions for disc-based copies at launch; an unupdated disc copy may not include every listed feature. Make the image more comfortable
Reduce blur, flashing, and camera movement
- Fullscreen Effects toggles damage vignettes, intense flashing, and effects that cover large areas of the screen.
- Motion Blur toggles blur from camera movement and fast-moving objects.
- Camera Shake adjusts the intensity of on-screen camera shake. Camera Rotation Effects separately adjusts additive rotation effects during traversal, combat, and other gameplay.
- Camera Follow controls whether, and how quickly, the camera automatically adjusts while running. Combat Camera Rotation Assist automatically rotates the camera to help keep enemies in view.
- Film Grain changes the intensity of the film-grain effect. Chromatic Aberration toggles colored fringes around objects. Depth of Field toggles blur on objects outside the camera’s focal point.
- Look Sensitivity adjusts camera-control sensitivity; Invert Look Control changes the camera look controls.
Add a fixed focal point
Center Dot enables a persistent dot as a focal point. You can choose Small, Medium, or Large and adjust its color and opacity. It changes what appears on screen, not the camera’s movement.

Improve text, icons, and visual distinction
Change interface size and color
- UI Text Size changes in-game and menu text among Standard, Large, and Largest. Icon and Prompt Size changes the size of waypoints, icons, and prompts.
- Toggle Icons controls whether HUD icons for active settings are visible. Emphasis Text Color changes the color used for emphasized text.
- Senses Color Customization changes the Senses effect color. Separate controls change the colors for Senses Threat, Parry Threat, and Dodge Threat effects.
- Hero Health and Boss Health toggle their respective health bars.
Use outlines and shaders for contrast
High Contrast Presets apply combinations of contrast options. Friendly Outlines and Enemy Outlines add single-color outlines; Outline Thickness and Outline Brightness adjust those outlines.
High-contrast shaders apply solid, single-color treatments to Hero, Ally, NPC, Enemy, Story Critical, Combat Interact, and Collectible elements. Enemy Shaders include seven enemy-type shaders. High Contrast Background toggles a background to help clarify some elements, while High Contrast Shader Fill Opacity controls how much the shader overrides natural character colors.

Use audio features for dialogue, cues, and sound balance
Hear dialogue and access menu text
- Voice Boost adjusts in-game audio to make dialogue clearer and more audible. Mono Audio combines audio into a single output played through both left and right speakers.
- Screen Reader reads on-screen text for menus, tutorials, and notifications. Insomniac lists English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (LatAm), Spanish (Castilian), and Japanese support. Its asterisk notation marks certain languages as features added via update for disc-based copies at launch.
- Screen Reader controls include Volume, Speed (100%, 150%, 200%, 300%, or 400%), Verbosity (Default or Minimal), Repeat, and Repeat Delay. Repeat Delay Scale, when enabled, doubles the time read for each repeated entry beginning at the specified time.
- Audio Description adds a track describing key visuals and actions during cinematics. Insomniac lists English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (LatAm), Spanish (Castilian), and Japanese, plus a volume control. The source marks Audio Description as an update feature for disc-based copies at launch.
- Single Language Audio swaps dialogue in other languages that matters for combat or narrative understanding to the selected voice language.
Adjust cues and frequency ranges
- Accessibility Audio Cues toggles action-confirmation cues and includes a volume adjustment. Audio and Vibration Cue Glossary explains the cues.
- Heartbeat Audio toggles heartbeat sound and vibration for enemies.
- High Frequency Cutoff filters frequencies above 6,000 Hz; Low Frequency Cutoff filters frequencies below 600 Hz. Notch Frequency Filter enables a slider for removing a selected frequency range.
- Streaming Mode toggles the use of licensed or composed music.
- Profanity Filter replaces profane words with silence in audio and asterisks in visuals. Insomniac lists it as US English only.
Read dialogue and identify sounds with subtitles and captions
Subtitles toggle text for spoken dialogue. You can adjust Subtitle Size, Subtitle Color, Subtitle Speaker Color, Subtitle Background Color, and Subtitle Background Opacity. Subtitle Direction Indicators can appear on all subtitles or only off-screen subtitles, and their color is adjustable.
Captions toggle text for important sound effects and music in gameplay and cinematics. Caption Size, Caption Color, Caption Background Color, and Caption Background Opacity change their presentation. Caption Direction Indicators can appear on all captions or only off-screen captions; Music Caption Color changes music-caption color. PlayStation also describes full subtitles for spoken dialogue and full captions for sounds and sound effects on its accessibility tags.

Change controller demands and input behavior
Remap controls and adjust controller feedback
- Controller Remapping offers presets or custom mappings. Shortcuts can assign actions to the four D-pad buttons, including screen-reader status, contrast, game speed, combat holds or double presses, collectible or interact tracking through Navigation Assist, and Special Techniques. Each technique slot can have a shortcut. Photo Mode is also listed as an update feature.
- Adaptive Triggers adjusts L2/R2 force and tension; its operation is determined by system software.
- Cinematic Vibration and Footstep Vibration adjust vibration strength in those contexts. Controller Vibration can be Experiential, Functional, or None, with a separate intensity control. Controller Speaker Mode sets controller-speaker sounds.
Reduce holds, repeated presses, and timing pressure
- Dodge/Parry Input Timing sets the time available to dodge or parry. Dodge Mode offers Default, Single Tap, Continuous Hold, or Toggle; Default uses a single tap to dodge and a double tap to roll.
- Repeated Button Presses changes prompt sequences between taps and hold. UI Holds changes hold prompts between Hold and Toggle.
- QTE Autocomplete advances quick-time events automatically without a button press.
- Sprint Mode offers Hold, Toggle Hold, Toggle Release, or Auto. Auto Sprint Delay sets when auto sprint engages, and Sprint Overrides Crouch controls whether sprint automatically overrides crouch.
- Special Techniques Mode changes hold or toggle behavior. Melee Mode changes control style among Single, Combo, and Continuous.
- Touch Pad Active in Combat determines whether the touch pad brings up menus during combat.
Use gameplay assistance to adjust challenge and navigation
Change combat difficulty and pace
- Challenge Level options adjust overall challenge. Stealth Awareness adjusts how quickly enemies detect the player; Enemy Health and Enemy Damage adjust enemy health and damage.
- Global Game Speed offers 100%, 70%, 50%, and 30%. Combat Game Speed offers the same values during stealth and active combat.
- Chase Assist reduces target movement speed during chase sequences.
Make traversal and objectives easier to follow
- Navigation Assist shows a direction trail to the nearest enemy or mission objective. Navigation Assist Color changes its color; Navigation Assist Turn Speed changes how quickly the camera turns toward the goal while the assist is active.
- Traversal Assist removes inputs for climbing, jumping, and moving between traversal elements.
- Mission Waypoint Display sets waypoint icons to On, R3 Hint, or Off. Tutorials controls tutorial frequency, and Enable Reminders controls periodic UI reminders.
- Skip Puzzle allows puzzles to be skipped.
Turn story Scent trails on or off
Update 1.002.001 adds an option to toggle story-related Scent trails using the Hint button, R3 by default. The update says players have more control over Scents, Audio Cues, and Nightmare Roots alongside earlier updates. The patch note does not establish that this toggle changes every scent-related effect. Read Insomniac’s update 1.002.001 notes for the specific addition.
Find and revisit settings
First Time User Experience allows customization before play starts, with presets for Motor, Motion Sensitivity, and Vision. Recent Settings lists the 20 most recently changed settings. Replay Cinematic can replay or restart the active cinematic.

Customize violence and visible injury
Violence Preset offers Some or Full presets across Dynamic Blood, Dismemberment, and Visceral Healing. You can also use the individual controls:
- Dynamic Blood toggles blood from impacts during gameplay and cinematics.
- Dismemberment controls visibility of dismemberment: none in gameplay and blurred in cinematics when customized as described by Insomniac.
- Visceral Healing changes the level of physical damage shown on Logan’s body during gameplay and cinematics.
What the latest listed updates changed
Insomniac’s October 6, 2026, update 1.002.000 lists fixes for accessibility issues involving Navigation Assist, Lock-On, High Contrast, and Screen Reader behavior, alongside other fixes. Its notes also say the game uses QSSR on PS5 by default. Update 1.002.001, also dated October 6, adds the story Scent-trail toggle described above. The latest official update reviewed here is 1.002.001 as of October 7, 2026; availability may depend on the version installed. See update 1.002.000 and update 1.002.001.
