The Winix C610 is a four-stage, Wi-Fi-connected air purifier whose strongest fit is a room around 384 square feet when you want the manufacturer’s stated 4.8 air changes per hour. Winix also advertises larger room areas for slower cleaning intervals, so those figures are not equivalent to the 384-square-foot rating. Independent testing by RTINGS reports a 250 CFM particle CADR and recommends it for 390 square feet at maximum fan speed. The C610 offers automatic mode and app control, but its long-term upkeep includes cleaning the pre-filter roughly every two weeks and replacing the all-in-one Filter Z about once a year.
What is the Winix C610?
The C610 is a 360-degree air purifier with four filtration or treatment stages: a fine-mesh pre-filter, True HEPA filter, activated-carbon layer, and Winix PlasmaWave technology. It has Wi-Fi and app controls, an air-quality sensor, automatic fan adjustment, sleep mode, an LED air-quality indicator, and support for Alexa and Google Home, according to Winix’s product page. RTINGS also notes that PlasmaWave can be switched off.
Winix lists five fan speeds, dual smart sensors, and a minimum noise specification of 22 dB. The product measures 10.42 × 10.42 × 18.54 inches and weighs 8.35 pounds. Its manual specifies 45 W and 120 V/60 Hz. The 22 dB figure is a minimum, not a full noise range across all fan settings.
How large a room can the Winix C610 clean?
Choose the room-size number that matches the cleaning interval you expect; the C610’s coverage figures use different assumptions.

Winix’s room figures and test qualification appear on its C610 product page. The larger coverage areas should not be read as equivalent to 4.8 air changes per hour: they correspond to slower stated cleaning intervals. Winix says results can vary with room dimensions and contents, pollutant types and levels, and airflow profile.
RTINGS’ review, updated September 22, 2026, reports a measured PM1.0 CADR of 424 m³/hr (250 CFM) and recommends 390 square feet at maximum fan speed. Those measurements used RTINGS Test Bench 1.3.1 and were taken with PlasmaWave disabled. ENERGY STAR’s export dated May 14, 2026 lists a PM2.5-free CADR of 250 CFM and smoke-free CADR per watt of 6.26. These are differently described metrics from separate sources, so they should not be treated as interchangeable room-size tests. See the RTINGS review and the ENERGY STAR listing.

How well does its filtration work?
The mesh pre-filter is the cleanable first stage; the all-in-one filter combines True HEPA media and activated carbon. Winix reports that the True HEPA filter captures 99.99% of airborne allergens down to 0.01 microns, based on independent report CT24-046161K using SPS-KACA 002-132:2022 modified standards. That is a manufacturer-reported test claim, and Winix says results may vary; it is not a guarantee of a particular outcome in every room.
The carbon layer is intended to help with odors and gaseous contaminants, but RTINGS cautions that activated carbon generally needs a significant amount of material to have a meaningful effect. The available C610 specifications do not state the filter’s carbon mass, so they do not establish a measured level of gas or odor removal for this model.

For PlasmaWave, Winix reports an 8-hour time-weighted-average ozone result of 0.33 ppbv in a 30 m³ chamber. This is a result for that stated test condition, not a promise of identical readings in every room. Consult the safety instructions in the C610 manual; RTINGS says the feature can be turned off.
What does owning the C610 require?
Clean the pre-filter about every 14 days
The manual says to clean the pre-filter approximately once every 14 days, using a vacuum or soft brush. Only the pre-filter should be cleaned; do not wash the all-in-one filter.

Replace the all-in-one filter about once a year
The specified replacement is genuine Winix Filter Z, SKU 1712-0121-00. The manual estimates an approximately 12-month service life, with the interval varying by environment. Winix’s Filter Z page identifies C610 compatibility and describes it as a one-year replacement set. Check the current price and stock before buying.
Reset the filter indicator after replacement
- Install the new Filter Z according to the manual’s replacement instructions.
- Hold the filter-reset button for at least five seconds.
- Release it after the beep and indicator reset.
Which air purifier is better for your room?
The available specifications do not establish a head-to-head winner against another named purifier. To make a useful comparison, check that both models’ room ratings use the same air-change assumption, then compare their measured CADR figures and test methods. Also compare particle filtration separately from odor or gas claims, noise at the fan speeds you would actually use, smart controls, whether optional technologies can be disabled, and replacement-filter cost and availability.

The C610’s figures point to a straightforward decision: use Winix’s 384-square-foot rating if 4.8 ACH is the relevant target, rather than choosing solely by its larger, slower-interval coverage numbers. A room near RTINGS’ 390-square-foot recommendation is likewise within the reviewer’s maximum-speed recommendation, but that measurement is a different test and should retain its attribution.
