Microsoft released KB5046613 on November 12, 2024, with fixes for two problems affecting USB-connected multifunction printers: unexpected network-command text printing and scanner-driver installation failures. The update applied to Windows 10 version 22H2 and supported Enterprise LTSC 2021 editions. It is now expired: Microsoft says it has not been available through the Update Catalog or other release channels since March 31, 2026.
What KB5046613 fixed for USB-connected printers
The printer changes addressed software behavior when a multifunction printer (MFP) was connected to a Windows 10 PC by USB. Microsoft’s release notes describe fixes for two distinct symptoms:
- Unexpected text on printouts: Some MFPs could print network-command text rather than the intended document.
- Scanner driver would not install: The scanner driver for an MFP could fail to install over a USB connection.
These were Windows and driver-handling corrections for existing printer setups, not a reason to replace a printer or buy a new USB cable. BleepingComputer reported the specific symptoms in its November 12, 2024 coverage.
Which Windows 10 editions received the update
Microsoft listed Windows 10 version 22H2, all editions, and Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 and Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 as applicable. The package was released as a cumulative security and quality update on November 12, 2024.

OpenSSH issue noted on the release page
Microsoft’s known-issues section also records an OpenSSH service startup problem reported after the October 2024 security update. The page says the issue was addressed in KB5052077. This is a separate known issue in the release-page chronology; it was not one of the printer problems fixed by KB5046613.
