The company says enhanced Samsung AI features and third-party AI features have different terms and may carry fees, but it has not specified a paid feature list, price, or start date in the sources available. That is different from confirming that free basic Galaxy AI is about to end.
What Samsung’s current Galaxy AI terms say
Samsung’s U.S. support page draws a distinction between basic features provided by Samsung and other AI features. Its wording is direct: “Galaxy AI basic features provided by Samsung are free.” Samsung places these basic features under “Advanced intelligence” in its Services Terms and Conditions. Samsung’s U.S. Galaxy AI support page also says: “Any Samsung enhanced AI features and all third party AI features are subject to different terms and may be subject to fees.”
“May be subject to fees” leaves open the possibility of charges for enhanced Samsung features or third-party services; it is not an announcement that a particular feature will become paid. The current wording does not name a paid tier, identify which functions might be included, set a price, or give an effective date.
Why people ask whether Galaxy AI will end in 2025
Samsung’s earlier Galaxy S25 launch materials said Galaxy AI features would be provided free through the end of 2025 on supported Galaxy devices, while noting that third-party AI could have different terms. An older Galaxy AI innovation page also carried a free-through-2025 note. Those statements explain the concern, but they are not the same as Samsung’s current support wording for basic features.

In January 2026, Android Central likewise reported the wording change as keeping basic features free while allowing for fees on enhanced or third-party features. Samsung’s own support terms are the more direct source for the current distinction. Android Central’s January 2026 coverage provides secondary context.
Which devices and features can use Galaxy AI?
Samsung’s U.S. compatibility information lists the Galaxy S26, S25, S24, and S23 series; selected S22 and S21 phones; and several Z-series devices. This is a U.S. support list, not a guarantee that every feature works on every listed device or a globally exhaustive list. Samsung says availability can vary or be limited by device model and software version. Check Samsung’s compatible-device information for the current U.S. scope.

Access can also depend on accounts, software, language, region, and connectivity. Samsung says the full Galaxy AI experience may require both a Samsung account and a Google account; without them, features may be limited or unavailable. Its Galaxy AI usage guide describes requirements feature by feature. For instance, Photo Assist generative editing requires an internet connection, and Samsung cautions that generated results and translations can vary.

No. Samsung Brazil announced a separate promotion for six months of Google AI Pro with eligible purchases of the Galaxy Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra, or Z Flip8. The offer applies to qualifying purchases made from August 6, 2026 through August 1, 2027, under the promotion’s terms. Samsung described Google AI Pro as including Gemini access and 5 TB of cloud storage. This is a time-limited, Brazil-specific promotion for a Google subscription—not evidence that Samsung has introduced a fee for Galaxy AI basic features. What to take from the “free service near its end” claim
- Samsung’s current U.S. support wording says Samsung-provided basic Galaxy AI features are free.
- Enhanced Samsung AI and third-party AI features have separate terms and may be subject to fees; Samsung has not specified which features, markets, prices, or start dates.
- Whether a specific feature is available depends on supported hardware and software, accounts, language, region, and—in some cases—an internet connection.
- A Google AI Pro promotion offered with selected phones in Brazil is separate from Galaxy AI and does not establish a general Samsung AI subscription charge.
