Possibly later, but no specific price increase, catalog change, or plan migration for existing subscribers has been announced in the official sources reviewed as of October 4, 2026. The relevant deal is Paramount Skydance’s proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD). Key regulatory clearances have been recorded, but the companies’ reviewed statements still described the transaction as awaiting completion. For now, don’t assume your bill will rise, your plan will be canceled, or a particular show or movie will leave your service.
Which studio merger is at issue?
It is the Paramount Skydance–Warner Bros. Discovery deal, not the earlier proposed Netflix–WBD merger. WBD’s 2025 Form 10-K says the company terminated its Netflix merger agreement after entering into a merger agreement with Paramount Skydance on February 27, 2026. The Paramount transaction remains subject to its terms and conditions, according to that filing: WBD’s 2025 Form 10-K.
The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) case page records clearance of the anticipated acquisition on August 6, 2026. Paramount’s announcement that day said 66 jurisdictions had either cleared the transaction or chosen not to challenge it on competition and/or foreign direct investment grounds. That figure is Paramount’s tally, not a finding about what subscribers will pay or watch. The company described completion as a future step: CMA case record and Paramount’s clearance announcement.
Will my streaming bill go up?
No reviewed official source announces a new subscriber price. Regulatory clearance does not set a streaming service’s prices, and the merger announcement alone does not change an existing customer’s monthly bill. Any future price decision would need to be confirmed by the service, with the applicable country, plan, and effective date.

The U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division said on June 12, 2026 that its eight-month review found the proposed merger was not likely to harm competition or American consumers, including in subscription video on demand (SVOD). The department said it reviewed more than two million documents and interviewed more than 80 custodians. Those figures describe the DOJ’s investigation; its competition conclusion is not a subscriber price schedule: DOJ Antitrust Division statement.
Will shows or movies disappear from my service?
No final catalog or content-rights changes for subscribers are established in the reviewed official materials. A combined owner could alter how it distributes or packages its libraries, but that possibility is not confirmation that a title will leave a service, become exclusive elsewhere, or move on a particular date.

The DOJ’s conclusion covered several markets, including SVOD, linear television, and studio development, production, or distribution of films for theatrical release. A finding that the deal is not likely to harm competition does not specify where individual programs will stream or how long they will remain available.
Will I need a different plan or account?
No final plan, bundle, or account-migration terms for existing subscribers appear in the reviewed sources. If a service later announces changes, check the notice sent to your account and the terms for your country and subscription tier before making a decision. Look for the effective date, whether your plan continues, and any instructions or deadline for keeping, changing, or canceling it.

If the companies publish new subscriber terms, compare the actual monthly price by tier and country, which services and catalogs are included, advertising, simultaneous streams, downloads, account migration or cancellation terms, and the effective date. These details have not been established in the reviewed announcements, so estimates would be unreliable.

Regulatory review addresses competition, not the practical details of a customer’s subscription. On June 12, 2026, the DOJ said it had completed its review and determined that the transaction was not likely to harm competition or American consumers, including in SVOD. The CMA recorded clearance on August 6, 2026. Neither record is a promise that prices will stay the same, nor an announcement that prices or catalogs will change.

There are competing public positions on the consumer impact. Paramount said the combination would enhance consumer choice and help create a scaled competitor; that is the company’s stated view, not an established subscriber benefit. A December 17, 2025 Senate Commerce Committee affordability snapshot argued that streaming consolidation could leave consumers with fewer standalone options and more pressure to accept large bundles. That is a policy concern published before the final Paramount agreement, not evidence that this deal will cause a price increase or bundle: Senate Commerce Committee affordability snapshot.
