For Patch 7.3a, Wild Rift Core’s October 4, 2026 review names Malphite, Nocturne, Hwei, Senna, and Thresh as its S+ picks for Baron lane, Jungle, Mid, Dragon lane ADC, and Support, respectively. Those are editorial rankings—not Riot’s official standings—and other current lists place some champions differently. Use the role-by-role guide below as a starting point, then weigh your comfort, draft needs, and the difficulty of executing each pick.
What changed in Patch 7.3a?
Riot Games’ Wild Rift Game Design Team published Patch 7.3a notes on September 29, 2026. The update includes champion and item adjustments, jungle and Turret Plating tuning, and AAA ARAM changes. Among the champion adjustments, Riot reduced Hwei’s overall damage as players became more proficient with his kit. The team wrote: “Hwei’s performance has continued to rise as players master his kit, and we expect that trend to continue.” Riot also increased Samira’s damage and durability, saying she had been underperforming across skill levels. Read Riot’s Patch 7.3a notes.
These changes are one reason a patch-specific tier list can move: balance adjustments affect champions, while player mastery and the evolving meta influence how those champions perform. The patch notes alone do not establish that a champion belongs in any particular tier.
Best Wild Rift champions by role in Patch 7.3a
The clearest role-specific S+ examples in the current sources come from Wild Rift Core’s list, marked Patch 7.3a and reviewed by EllieAnth, identified on the page as a Challenger player, on October 4, 2026. Its stated criteria include ranked impact, lane power, ease of execution, teamfight value, snowball potential, solo-queue stability, and overall meta presence.

| Role | Wild Rift Core S+ pick | How to read the recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Baron / Top | Malphite | A top-tier editorial pick in Wild Rift Core’s October 4 review; consider your team’s needs and matchup before locking in. |
| Jungle | Nocturne | Wild Rift Core’s S+ Jungle choice for the patch. |
| Mid | Hwei | Wild Rift Core’s S+ Mid choice, despite Riot’s Patch 7.3a damage reductions. |
| Dragon / ADC | Senna | Wild Rift Core’s S+ ADC choice for the patch. |
| Support | Thresh | Wild Rift Core’s S+ Support choice for the patch. |
These are five examples from one publisher, not a verified complete ranking of every champion. Pocket Gamer’s October 5 article is also organized by role and discusses situational picks such as Vayne top and Seraphine mid when the team composition suits them. It identifies Hwei as its latest addition. Its role lists contain repeated names and misspellings, so they should not be treated as a clean, complete roster. See Pocket Gamer’s role-based tier list.
Why current tier lists disagree
Wild Rift Core and Wild Rift Fire both provide role-filtered rankings, but their placements are editorial judgments shaped by their own approaches. For example, Wild Rift Core names Malphite its top Baron pick and Thresh its Support S+ pick. Wild Rift Fire’s visible leading selections include Shen and Malphite among its role picks, and it places Thresh in its S+ group. That difference does not establish that one list is wrong; it reflects separate judgments and potentially different ranking methods.

Wild Rift Fire says its list is maintained by iTzSTU4RT, whom the page identifies as a Challenger-tier streamer and educator. Its page also offers ranked filters and win, pick, and ban rates. Wild Rift Core describes criteria including ranked impact and execution ease. Compare lists by patch and update date, then check whether they use the same region, rank bracket, role, timeframe, and statistical basis. Wild Rift Fire says its ranked statistics come exclusively from the Wild Rift China server, which it describes as the only region with official ranked statistics, and that its data updates daily. The figures below are the displayed overall-table snapshot reported on October 7, 2026—not global or timeless performance claims. The cited page does not establish a rank bracket or role-specific sample basis for these overall figures.

The snapshot reports Hwei’s pick and ban rates alongside his win rate. Wild Rift Fire does not attach those same pick and ban values to the other champions in the cited figures, so they are left unstated here. A high win rate is not the same thing as a high editorial tier placement: it does not, by itself, account for a player’s rank, role, matchups, sample, or how often a champion is selected or banned. Check Wild Rift Fire’s current China-server statistics for updated values.
Wild Rift Core also displays role-ranking figures, but the reviewed page does not establish a sample definition directly comparable with Wild Rift Fire’s. Combining values from the two sites into a single leaderboard would therefore imply comparability that has not been established.

How to choose a champion beyond the tier label
- Start with your role and draft. A highly ranked champion is useful only if it fits the role you need and complements the team composition.
- Account for execution. A list may consider ease of execution, but the tier label cannot tell you how reliably you can use a champion’s kit. Choose a pick you can pilot well.
- Check the list’s context. Look for its patch, review or update date, region, rank bracket, and stated methodology before treating a placement as relevant to your games.
- Treat off-meta picks as conditional. Pocket Gamer highlights Vayne top and Seraphine mid for suitable team compositions; those examples are not a blanket recommendation for every draft.
- Expect change. Patch adjustments and player mastery can shift performance, so a list is a dated guide rather than a promise of match results.
