Investor Vinod Khosla believes its focus on trust could help it win in the personal-agent market—but that is his opinion, not a proven advantage. The available real-world evidence is limited and mixed: a reported airline call succeeded, while a personal reminder call did not go smoothly.
What is Wajo’s Fo agent?
Wajo describes itself as a builder of action agents and presents Fo as its consumer agent. Rather than only answering questions, Fo is intended to carry out tasks by coordinating with people and businesses through phone calls, email, messaging, and a web interface. Reported uses include scheduling, gifting, travel planning, and other life administration. Wajo says it can involve trained human assistance when a task requires human judgment. (TechCrunch; Wajo Fieldnotes; Wajo)
Wajo’s August 25, 2026 launch post listed examples it said came from real user tasks in the prior two weeks: ordering food across three countries and four languages, sending gifts and flowers, calling a cafe, booking personal services, checking in for a flight, finding flights, comparing hotels and insurance, finding a handyman, and renewing a domain registration. These are company-provided examples, not an independent assessment of Fo’s capabilities.
The launch post says agents can have their own inbox, phone number, voice, and credit card. TechCrunch describes the payment feature as a virtual card; the reporting does not establish that Wajo sells or provides a physical card.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Why does Vinod Khosla think trust matters for AI agents?
An agent that acts on someone’s behalf may need access to personal information, communicate with other people, or take steps with financial consequences. Khosla’s argument is that users must trust an agent to make those actions acceptable. In an interview with TechCrunch, he said: “I think the most important thing in an agent, because it’s acting for you, is trust. You have to have trust in the agent, and I think compared to either Muse or Instinct, Wajo is the most trustworthy because it is architected to focus on trust and safety first, and some of the others are not,”
That is Khosla’s assessment as an investor, not the result of a published comparative safety evaluation. TechCrunch also reports his criticism of Meta’s advertising incentives; that should be understood as his view, not a neutral finding about every competing agent.

Wajo founder Shivani Poddar made a related point in the same reporting: “Trust is something you have to build from the get-go because one of the technological things that has not been solved yet is teaching agents to unlearn. If they get access to your personal data on day zero, they will always have it for the future. I think trust needs to be built from day zero, not only in your architecture, but in product choices,” Her statement explains the company’s rationale for making trust part of product design; it does not independently establish how Fo stores, forgets, or protects data.
How does Wajo say Fo protects payment and personal data?
Wajo and TechCrunch describe several features intended to limit exposure or add human oversight. The available reporting does not include an independent privacy or security audit validating their effectiveness.

- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Virtual card: TechCrunch reports that Fo can use a virtual card without revealing the user’s payment details to a merchant. It says Wajo had applied for a patent related to the system. An application is not an issued patent, and neither fact establishes how effective the protection is in practice.
- Separate communications: Fo can have its own email account, according to TechCrunch, and Wajo’s launch post says agents can have their own inbox and phone number. These are product features, not proof that personal information is never shared.
- Human involvement: Wajo says it can bring in trained assistance when a task calls for human judgment. TechCrunch also reports that Fo can create a group with the user and a business when a site blocks an agent.
- Approval and escalation: Wajo’s homepage says agents ask before hard-to-reverse actions and escalate when they lack context or human judgment.
- Call controls: TechCrunch reports that Wajo planned a trusted-contact list for calls and a way to honor requests not to call again. These were described as plans, not confirmed as available safeguards.
Wajo identifies Shivani Poddar as its founder. Its biography says she researched natural-language generation at Carnegie Mellon University, built an early social conversation agent for the Alexa Prize, led multimodal AI work at Meta, and worked on frontier models at Google DeepMind and products at Google Labs. TechCrunch also reports engineering work at Meta, Google, and DeepMind. These credentials provide context about the founder, but they are not evidence that Fo’s safeguards have been independently tested. (Wajo About; TechCrunch)
Can Fo make calls and handle errands, and how well does it work?
TechCrunch’s early tests produced mixed anecdotes. The reporter said a call to an airline about an upgrade succeeded. A call to the reporter’s partner to remind her to feed the cats did not go smoothly, and disclosure was less clear. These examples point to practical questions about whether an agent can complete a task and make clear to the person on the other end that they are interacting with an AI. They do not establish Fo’s overall success rate.

TechCrunch reported on October 6, 2026 that Wajo said Fo was being used in 107 countries and had grown 10× since its late-September launch. The article gave neither a user total nor the methodology behind the growth figure. Those company-reported numbers indicate claimed reach and growth, not how reliably Fo completes tasks. The same article said Wajo had not disclosed a user total or funding amount.
