US cybersecurity venture capital firm Ten Eleven led the investment, joined by existing backers Main Sequence and the South Australian Venture Capital Fund. Fivecast said it planned to use the funding to expand, develop its products, and serve key markets.
How much did Fivecast raise?
Fivecast’s April 2023 announcement described a closed Series A of almost US$20 million, or AU$30 million. The two figures refer to the same round in different currencies, not separate amounts. The release was distributed by PR Newswire at 20:00 ET on April 10, 2023, with an April 11 dateline in Adelaide and Arlington. Fivecast’s funding announcement does not disclose the company’s valuation, investor ownership stakes, or other detailed financing terms.
Who invested in the Series A?
- Ten Eleven, a US cybersecurity venture capital firm, led the round.
- Main Sequence, the investment fund associated with Australia’s national science agency CSIRO, participated as an existing backer.
- The South Australian Venture Capital Fund, managed by Artesian, also participated as an existing backer.
What did Fivecast say it would do with the money?
In 2023, Fivecast said it intended to fund company expansion, product development, and service contracts in key markets. The announcement specifically identified Five Eyes countries, as well as Asia Pacific and Europe, as target markets. It also pointed to corporate security and financial intelligence as adjacent applications for its technology. These were plans stated at the time of the financing announcement; they do not by themselves establish which expansion or development goals were later completed.
CEO and co-founder Brenton Cooper described the intended investment in the announcement: “This Series A funding ensures we can continue building advanced capabilities to support our customers’ targeted objectives, and add headcount to service markets across the globe – particularly in Australia, the US and the UK.”

What does Fivecast’s OSINT software do?
OSINT means open-source intelligence: the collection and analysis of information that is publicly available. In its 2023 funding release, Fivecast described its software as using artificial intelligence and machine learning for targeted collection and risk analysis. It named defense, intelligence, police, border security, and corporate organizations as intended users, and cited investigations involving extremism, terrorism, drug trafficking, and organized crime. These are the company’s descriptions of its capabilities and use cases, not independent findings about performance.

Fivecast’s current homepage and platform overview describe continuous data collection and AI-supported analysis alongside analyst judgment. These are vendor descriptions of its present product suite, distinct from the plans and company figures reported in the 2023 funding announcement.

Fivecast reported that it had more than 100 employees globally at the time of the April 2023 announcement. That is an announcement-era company-reported figure, not an independently audited headcount or a current employee count.
