Kleinanzeigen search results and category pages can use different pagination URL patterns, so a page-2 URL that works for a keyword search may fail for a category. A recent report by Devil Scrapes found that a guessed category URL redirected to page 1 or returned an empty-looking results shell. To confirm that pagination really advances, follow the page’s own link when available and compare listing IDs—not just the URL or HTTP status.

Why are there two different page-2 URL patterns?

Kleinanzeigen does not appear to use one universal page-number template for the examples in a recent report by Devil Scrapes. The report distinguishes keyword searches from category browsing, and its examples should be treated as observed behavior rather than an official or permanent URL specification.

Browse type Page 1 example Page 2 example or issue What the report establishes
Keyword search /s-fahrrad/k0 /s-seite:2/fahrrad/k0 This was the reported working pattern for the author’s keyword-search example.
Category browse /s-smartphones/k0c173 A guessed page-2 form may misroute; the page’s pagination widget may expose a different segment. The report describes a redirect or an empty-looking results shell for its guessed category path, not a reliable general template.

These examples come from Devil Scrapes’ report, not documentation from Kleinanzeigen. A route that works for one query or at one moment is not proof that the same string-building rule applies to every category or remains valid after a site change. Read the reported URL examples and observations.

How can you tell whether page 2 actually loaded?

Do not use a 200 response, the requested URL, or a page title as your only success check. Devil Scrapes reports that its guessed category URL could either redirect back to page 1 with a 302 or produce a 200 response with an empty-looking results shell. Neither outcome proves that the requested results page loaded.

  1. Prefer the page’s own pagination link. When the results page exposes a next-page link, read and follow its destination rather than assuming that a page number can be inserted into the URL.
  2. Record listing IDs. Extract the identifiers for listings on page 1 and the destination page. Compare the sets to see whether the destination contains results not present on page 1.
  3. Check redirects and rendered content. Note the final URL after redirects and confirm that listing cards or their IDs are present. A successful HTTP status alone is insufficient.
  4. Compare page 3 as well. If neighboring pages share some IDs, compare page 1 with page 3. A farther-apart comparison helps distinguish adjacent overlap from repeatedly receiving the same page.
  5. Deduplicate by listing ID. If you collect results across pages, use the listing identifier as the deduplication key so that repeated listings are not counted as new results.

These are diagnostic checks, not a universal pass threshold: the report does not establish how many IDs must differ for every query or category.

Why can adjacent pages share listings?

Some overlap does not necessarily mean that pagination failed. In Devil Scrapes’ reported live test for fahrrad, page 1 and page 2 shared 8 of 27 listing IDs, while page 2 and page 3 shared 6 of 27. The author attributed the repeats to promoted listings. Those figures describe one test, not a general Kleinanzeigen statistic.

A third-party project glossary likewise describes 25 organic listings per page and says paid Top listings may recur across pages. That is useful context for why IDs might repeat, but it is project documentation rather than official confirmation from Kleinanzeigen; its publication year is not stated. See the project glossary.

What did the page-1-versus-page-3 check show?

In the same reported fahrrad test, pages 1 and 3 each contained 27 IDs and had zero IDs in common. That result supported the author’s conclusion that the tested pagination advanced, despite overlap between adjacent pages. It is one author-reported test, not an independently reproduced benchmark or a guarantee for other searches.

For your own check, compare the actual IDs and final page content. Adjacent overlap can be consistent with advancing pages; receiving the same IDs repeatedly, especially on pages farther apart, is stronger evidence that navigation did not advance as expected.

What is known—and what is not—about these URL shapes?

The available evidence is a recent third-party report, supplemented by project documentation and a historical forum example; it is not an official current pagination specification. The forum discussion records an older URL example, /anzeigen/s-seite:2/tiffany/k0, from 2014. It shows that a similar route existed historically, but cannot verify that today’s pages use the same structure. View the historical forum discussion.
