GrabzIt can capture a page before JavaScript has finished adding the content you expect. Start by checking that the URL is valid and reachable, then give the page time to render or make the capture wait for a visible element that signals readiness. If neither fixes it, investigate custom-script limits, viewport differences, and the processed page content.
Why JavaScript content is missing from a GrabzIt screenshot
A page’s initial load does not necessarily mean that its JavaScript-driven content is ready. The page may fetch data asynchronously or update the DOM after the main document loads, while the screenshot capture has already begun. GrabzIt describes this behavior for content that loads after the main page, including AJAX-driven pages. Its guidance is to add a delay or wait for a visible page element. See GrabzIt’s page-load delay and element-wait guidance.
Timing is not the only possible cause. GrabzIt also identifies invalid content and SSL problems as possible causes of blank or white captures. Differences from the browser can arise from capture load time or browser width; GrabzIt says its capture software is based on Chromium. See its blank-capture troubleshooting and browser consistency guidance.
Diagnose the capture in this order
- Verify the target URL. Open the exact URL and confirm it returns the expected content. Check that the page is valid and does not depend on an SSL connection the capture service cannot access; either issue can produce a blank capture.
- Check when the content appears. In browser developer tools, inspect the page and its network activity. If the target content arrives after an asynchronous request, identify a visible element that appears only when that content is ready.
- Try a fixed delay. GrabzIt’s blank-capture guidance says 3000 milliseconds is usually enough for delayed content. Its consistency guidance suggests trying 5000 milliseconds or more when the page has not had enough time to load. These are vendor troubleshooting starting points, not guarantees for every page. Increase cautiously and check the result.
- Prefer an element wait when possible. If the page has a stable readiness marker, use a CSS selector for that visible element instead of guessing how long the page will take. A short additional delay can help if the element appears before an animation or other finishing work is complete.
- Check any custom JavaScript. Make sure the script does not rely on asynchronous work that outlasts GrabzIt’s execution window.
- Compare the capture environment. Compare the result with Chrome and match the browser width to the width used in the capture request. A different responsive breakpoint can change what is visible.
- Inspect rendered HTML if needed. If the screenshot is still wrong, determine whether the expected content exists in the processed DOM. That separates a content-arrival problem from a viewport or visual-layout issue.
Choose a fixed delay or a readiness selector
| Approach | Best when | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed delay in milliseconds | There is no reliable visible marker for readiness, or the page’s render time varies. | Simple to configure, but it can wait longer than necessary. GrabzIt cautions that a large delay can reduce capture priority when captures are queued. |
| Wait for a visible CSS selector | A stable element appears only after the target content is ready. | Better tied to actual readiness, but only as reliable as the chosen selector. A further delay may be needed for animations or finishing work. |
GrabzIt says its element wait succeeds as soon as one matching element is visible. Its documented delay and element-wait techniques have a maximum wait of 30 seconds and are available on premium packages; check the current package terms before relying on them. A wait can also be combined with an additional delay. Details are in GrabzIt’s delay documentation.

- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
GrabzIt also describes an accelerated-delay mode in which its capture browser simulates the requested browser-time interval so JavaScript and animations can progress while real elapsed time may be shorter. That is GrabzIt’s explanation of its own service behavior, not a promise that every page will finish within a particular wall-clock time. Read its February 13, 2026 explanation of virtual time.
Configure waits for the API you use
JavaScript API
For captures through GrabzIt’s JavaScript API, its documentation demonstrates the delay parameter in milliseconds. The API key must have the authorized domain configured for the JavaScript API. Follow the current parameter and authorization instructions in GrabzIt’s JavaScript API documentation. Choose a delay based on when the target content actually appears rather than assuming that the initial page load is sufficient.

Wait-for-element configuration
When using GrabzIt’s element-wait option, supply a CSS selector for a visible element that reliably indicates the required content is ready. Avoid selecting a generic element—such as a page header—that is visible before the asynchronous content arrives. If the page can show a loading state inside the same element, choose a more specific marker or wait for a follow-up change.
Custom JavaScript
GrabzIt runs supplied custom JavaScript after page load and the configured delay or element wait, but stops the script after a maximum of one second. A synchronous DOM change that finishes within that window may work; do not assume a fetch, setTimeout, or other asynchronous operation will complete before the script is stopped. See GrabzIt’s custom JavaScript documentation.

Use rendered HTML to separate DOM problems from screenshot problems
If you need to determine whether the data made it into the page at all, GrabzIt’s URL to HTML API is documented to execute JavaScript and wait for data. GrabzIt notes that a delay may still be needed. If the target content is absent from the processed HTML, investigate timing, page validity, SSL access, or the page’s own scripts. If it is present there but missing or misplaced in the screenshot, focus on viewport width, visibility, layout, or capture timing.
Troubleshooting common failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| Screenshot is blank or white | Delayed content, invalid page content, or an SSL issue. | Confirm the URL and SSL access; test a delay, starting with GrabzIt’s 3000 ms suggestion for delayed content. |
| Page shell appears, but data or widgets are missing | The capture precedes an asynchronous update. | Wait for a specific visible readiness element, or increase the delay and test again. |
| Custom script does not finish loading or changing the page | The script exceeds GrabzIt’s one-second execution limit or depends on asynchronous work. | Keep the supplied script’s work within the documented limit; do not rely on timers or network requests completing during it. |
| Capture differs from the browser layout | Different browser width or page load timing. | Compare with Chrome and match the capture width to the browser viewport. |
| Long waits still do not reveal the content | The selector may not be a true readiness signal, or the content may fail to enter the processed DOM. | Inspect the rendered HTML and choose a more specific visible marker; check the page’s request and script failures. |
| Captures become slower or lose queue priority | The configured delay is larger than necessary. | Use an element wait where a reliable marker exists, or reduce the delay to the shortest value that consistently captures the content. |
Or skip the browser setup

FAQ
Does a longer delay guarantee JavaScript content will appear?
No. A delay only gives the page more time; it cannot fix invalid content, an inaccessible SSL connection, or a script that fails. A visible readiness selector is more precise when the page provides a dependable one.
Can I use an element wait and a delay together?
Yes. GrabzIt says its wait techniques can be combined with a further delay, within its documented 30-second maximum.
Why compare a capture with Chrome?
GrabzIt says its capture software is based on Chromium, so Chrome is a useful comparison when investigating browser-rendering differences.
