Demand for cybersecurity innovation is rising because organizations expect AI to reshape cyber risk, rely on complex technology supply chains, continue to face known software vulnerabilities, and often lack enough skilled staff to respond. Survey results show strong concern about these pressures, but they measure respondents’ expectations and perceptions—not global cybersecurity spending or a uniform level of risk for every organization.

AI adoption is creating new security questions

Organizations are adopting AI while also anticipating that it will change the work of defending systems. In the World Economic Forum’s 2025 survey, 66% of organizations expected AI to have the most significant impact on cybersecurity in 2025, but only 37% reported having processes to assess AI tools before deployment. That difference points to a practical need: evaluating AI tools and their risks before they become part of everyday operations. World Economic Forum, Global Cybersecurity Outlook 2025.

The World Economic Forum’s 2026 outlook shows that concern continuing: 94% of respondents expected AI to be the most significant driver of change in cybersecurity in the year ahead. The same report says 87% identified AI-related vulnerabilities as the fastest-growing cyber risk over 2025. These are respondents’ expectations and perceptions, not counts of attacks or independently measured rates of vulnerability growth. World Economic Forum, Global Cybersecurity Outlook 2026.

The implication is broader than buying AI-specific defenses. Organizations need ways to assess the security of AI tools they use, understand how those tools fit into existing systems, and adapt security practices as adoption changes. The cited survey figures indicate a perceived need for that work; they do not establish which products or approaches are most effective.

  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Interconnected suppliers widen the security perimeter

Businesses depend on outside providers for software, hardware, and managed services. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency describes the information and communications technology supply chain as a globally interconnected ecosystem, with risk spanning lifecycle stages from development and production through deployment, maintenance, and disposal. A weakness or disruption may therefore involve technology beyond an organization’s directly operated network. CISA, ICT Supply Chain Risk Management.

In the World Economic Forum’s 2025 survey, 54% of large organizations named supply-chain challenges as their greatest barrier to cyber resilience. The figure captures the reported views of large organizations in that survey; it is not a measure of the share of all organizations experiencing a supply-chain incident. This complexity makes supplier visibility and coordination relevant to resilience. Reviewing who provides critical technology, how it is maintained, and where dependencies lie can help organizations understand exposure across the lifecycle rather than focusing only on their own infrastructure.

Known software vulnerabilities remain a central problem

Innovation is not a substitute for fixing familiar weaknesses. CISA’s August 2026 review, covering fiscal years 2024 and 2025, says attackers scan for exposed, well-known vulnerabilities and advises organizations to address underlying weaknesses and prioritize remediation according to risk. It also notes that most compromises do not rely on advanced techniques or cutting-edge tools. CISA, Cybersecurity Advisories.

That finding supports a practical balance: organizations need to evaluate emerging risks, but also identify exposed systems, maintain software, and resolve known vulnerabilities. New tools may assist with parts of that work, yet acquiring technology alone does not remove weaknesses or ensure that fixes are prioritized and applied.

Skills and readiness gaps add pressure

Security work requires people who can assess risk, operate controls, and respond when problems arise. In the World Economic Forum’s 2025 survey, 72% of respondents reported increased organizational cyber risks. Two out of three organizations reported moderate-to-critical cybersecurity skills gaps, while 14% were confident they had the people and skills required. These are survey responses, not a count of vacant jobs or a universal measure of workforce shortages. World Economic Forum, Global Cybersecurity Outlook 2025.

When capacity is constrained, organizations may look for automation, external services, or security processes that are easier to operate. Those choices can help address workload, but they still need to fit the organization’s risks and available expertise; the survey does not compare vendors or establish that a particular technology will close a skills gap.

What rising demand means—and what it does not

Together, these pressures help explain why organizations are seeking new ways to assess and manage cyber risk: AI adoption raises questions about tool security; supplier dependence extends exposure across organizational boundaries; known flaws still need disciplined remediation; and skills gaps can limit response capacity. The World Economic Forum’s 2026 outlook also quotes Paolo Dal Cin, Global Lead, Accenture Security, calling for a more proactive and collaborative approach in light of AI disruption, supply-chain vulnerabilities, and geopolitical tensions. The available survey evidence documents expectations and reported concerns, not a numeric global growth rate for cybersecurity innovation spending. It therefore supports an explanation of why interest is increasing, but not a claim about how much the market is growing or which solution organizations should buy.
