Choose based on where you play and which benefits you will actually use: PC-only players should compare PC Game Pass first; console players can start with Essential, then move up if they need a broader catalog, newer Xbox-published games, or more cloud play. Ultimate is the broadest bundle, but it makes sense only if its day-one games, streaming, and partner services justify the live price in your region.
Xbox Game Pass plans at a glance
Xbox’s US plan pages list the following benefits and marketing catalog counts. Counts and availability can change, and they are not guaranteed fixed inventories.
| Plan | Best fit | What Xbox lists | Day-one access | Monthly cloud playtime |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | Console players who want a smaller library and online multiplayer | 50+ games, console multiplayer, and in-game benefits | No new-release titles on day one | 5 hours |
| Premium | Players who want a larger library and can wait for Xbox-published games | 200+ games, multiplayer, cloud access, and benefits | Xbox-published games join within one year of launch, with exceptions; Xbox’s footnote excludes Call of Duty titles from the cited day-one offer | 10 hours |
| Ultimate | Players who want the broadest bundle across console and supported devices | 500+ games, console multiplayer, benefits, EA Play, Fortnite Crew, and Ubisoft+ Classics | Yes, subject to Xbox’s stated exclusions | 15 hours |
| PC Game Pass | Players who play on Windows PC | 300+ PC games, EA Play, and in-game benefits | Yes | Cloud gaming is not included |
These counts and features are listed on Xbox’s US plan pages, accessed October 7, 2026. Xbox cautions that game titles, number, features, and availability vary over time, by region, plan, and platform. See the Xbox Game Pass plan comparison and plans and FAQ for current terms.
Which Game Pass plan is best for PC?
If you play only on Windows PC, start with PC Game Pass. Xbox lists day-one titles and EA Play with this plan, while cloud gaming is not included. If you also play on an Xbox console or want cloud play, compare Ultimate’s full bundle against the price you see at checkout; do not assume PC Game Pass includes the same console or streaming access.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Which plan should console players choose?
Choose Essential for a smaller library and multiplayer
Essential is the entry point to consider if you mainly play on console, want online multiplayer, and are satisfied with the games and benefits in its library. It does not include new-release titles on day one. Xbox lists 50+ games and five monthly cloud-play hours on its current US plan page.
Choose Premium if you can wait for Xbox-published games
Premium is the middle option when you want a larger library and cloud access without selecting the broadest bundle. Xbox says Xbox-published games join within one year of launch, but the day-one claim has exceptions; its footnote says, “Select games. Excludes Call of Duty titles.” Xbox lists 200+ games and ten monthly cloud-play hours for the US plan.

Choose Ultimate when you will use its extras
Ultimate combines a larger catalog, day-one games, console multiplayer, cloud play, and partner benefits. Xbox lists EA Play, Fortnite Crew, and Ubisoft+ Classics among its inclusions, alongside 500+ games and fifteen monthly cloud-play hours on its current US page. It is the option to compare if you expect to use several of those benefits, rather than paying for a bundle whose extras you will leave unused.
Does Game Pass Ultimate make sense for you?
Ultimate is a stronger fit when you regularly play across console and supported streaming devices, want eligible day-one releases, or will use the included partner services. It is less compelling if you play only on PC, do not need cloud access or console multiplayer, or mainly want a smaller selection of games. Compare the titles you intend to play—not just the headline catalog count—and weigh that against the ongoing checkout price.

Check cloud play and device support
Xbox lists monthly cloud limits of five hours for Essential, ten for Premium, and fifteen for Ultimate on its current US plan page; its comparison page says limits vary by plan. PC Game Pass does not include cloud gaming. Streaming also depends on using a supported device in a supported region. Xbox lists phones and tablets, selected smart TVs, Meta VR headsets, and a web browser among supported streaming device types, but compatibility and availability vary. Confirm both your exact device and your region on Xbox’s live pages before choosing a plan for cloud play.
Check the full price and renewal terms before subscribing
Prices vary by region and can change. The official US pages retrieved for this comparison did not provide a complete, consistent standard-price table across all four plans, so a reliable current four-plan price comparison is not established here. Check the live Xbox offer page after signing in, and compare the regular renewal price—not only an introductory offer.

- Start with your device. Choose PC Game Pass as the first comparison for Windows-only play. For console play, compare Essential, Premium, and Ultimate. If you intend to stream, check supported device and regional availability.
- Look up the games you actually want. Catalog size alone does not establish that a particular title is included for your plan, platform, and region. Use Xbox’s current library and verify availability before subscribing.
- Decide how soon you need new Xbox-published releases. Essential does not include new releases on day one; Premium’s stated window is within one year, subject to exceptions; Ultimate and PC Game Pass list day-one titles, with Xbox’s stated exclusions.
- Count only benefits you will use. Factor in cloud play, console multiplayer, EA Play, Fortnite Crew, or Ubisoft+ Classics only if they matter to your gaming habits.
- Compare the regular price and billing terms. Review the current regional checkout offer and renewal amount, then decide whether the included games and features are worth that recurring cost.
Xbox states that subscribers can access games in the library until the subscription is cancelled or expires, or until a game leaves the Game Pass library. A subscription therefore does not guarantee permanent access to a particular title.
