Which plan should you choose?
Choose Essential for multiplayer and occasional cloud play
Essential is the entry option if online console multiplayer and its listed catalog meet your needs. Its 5 monthly cloud hours may suit occasional streaming, but are a constraint if you expect to play in the cloud regularly.

Choose Premium for more games and moderate cloud use
Premium raises the listed cloud allowance to 10 hours per month and offers a larger catalog. It does not promise Xbox-published games on launch day: Xbox says they join within 12 months of launch.
Choose Ultimate for day-one releases and the most listed cloud time
Ultimate is the option to consider if day-one releases, 15 monthly cloud hours, the listed EA Play, Fortnite Crew, or Ubisoft+ Classics benefits, or the best listed streaming quality are priorities. Its US listed price is higher than Premium’s, so weigh those features against your own use.

Choose PC Game Pass for PC-first play, not cloud gaming
Xbox presents PC Game Pass as a PC-focused plan and says cloud gaming is not included in its US overview. If cloud play is part of your requirement, compare the console plans instead.
How much cloud gaming time does each plan include?
Xbox’s US Cloud Gaming page lists a monthly allowance of 5 hours for Essential, 10 hours for Premium, and 15 hours for Ultimate. Treat these as plan limits shown on the page, not unlimited cloud play. Allowances, streaming features, and availability may change, so confirm the current terms for your region.

What you need to start cloud gaming
Xbox lists a supported device, a compatible controller, and a high-speed internet connection as readiness considerations. Supported devices and regions apply. Controller compatibility depends on the device you plan to use, so check that device’s requirements before buying or using a controller.
