Major 2025 smartphone launches included Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series, Google’s Pixel 10 series and Apple’s iPhone 17. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 also arrived later in the year. The dates below distinguish announcements from preorder and retail availability. This is a selection of launches verified for these manufacturers, not a complete worldwide list; availability and release timing could vary by country.
Confirmed smartphones launched in 2025
Announcement dates tell you when a manufacturer revealed a phone. They do not necessarily tell you when customers could preorder it or buy it in stores. The following dates and features come from the manufacturers.
| Phone or family | Announcement | Preorder and retail availability | What the manufacturer announced |
|---|---|---|---|
| Samsung Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra | January 22, 2025 | Samsung said worldwide availability began February 7, 2025. | Samsung’s three-model Galaxy S25 flagship family. Samsung announcement and availability details. |
| Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 | Samsung announced the foldable phones later in 2025. | Samsung described a global launch later in 2025; the cited notice does not establish country-by-country retail dates here. | Two foldable models. Samsung Newsroom. |
| Google Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL | August 20, 2025 | Google said the phones would be on shelves August 28, 2025. | Google highlighted built-in Qi2 wireless charging and magnetic accessories. Its published specifications include a 6.3-inch display and stated peak brightness of 3,000 nits for Pixel 10; Google describes Pixel 10 Pro zoom as reaching up to 100x. These are manufacturer claims, not independent test results. Google announcement. |
| Apple iPhone 17 | September 9, 2025 | Preorders began September 12. Initial availability began September 19, with other countries and regions following September 26. | Apple lists a 6.3-inch display and advertises three times better scratch resistance than the prior generation. These are Apple’s specifications and comparison claim. Apple announcement and availability details. |
How to read the launch dates
A phone’s announcement is the reveal; preorder is when customers can place advance orders; retail availability is when the manufacturer says sales or delivery begin. Those milestones can fall on different days. The iPhone 17 is a clear example: Apple announced it on September 9, opened preorders September 12 and began initial availability September 19, with additional countries and regions following September 26.
Samsung’s February 7 date for the Galaxy S25 family was stated as worldwide availability. That does not mean every model, retailer or configuration was necessarily available at the same time in every market. Check the manufacturer or local retailer for the country-specific date and stock.

- For a foldable: Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 are the confirmed foldable examples here; the cited launch information does not supply a detailed model-by-model comparison.
- For Google’s magnetic accessory ecosystem: Pixel 10’s built-in Qi2 charging and magnetic accessory support may be relevant when choosing chargers or accessories. Verify that a particular accessory is compatible with your exact phone before buying.
- For an Apple phone: iPhone 17’s initial availability was staged across regions, so its original launch date alone does not establish when it went on sale in your country.
These categories help narrow what to investigate, but the manufacturers’ feature statements are not independent evaluations of camera quality, battery life, durability or overall performance. Local price, present-day stock and accessory compatibility are not established by the launch notices linked above.

No. These are representative launches from Samsung, Google and Apple, not an exhaustive global inventory. Smartphones from other manufacturers and product tiers also appeared during 2025, but a complete list would need a defined country or region and manufacturer-level confirmation for each model. A retailer calendar is useful for discovering candidates, not by itself for verifying a model’s launch date or availability.
