If your Realme phone is draining quickly, start with screen brightness, screen timeout and—if your model offers it—refresh rate. Then check Battery usage details to identify apps using the most power before limiting their background activity. Power Saving Mode can help when you can accept its tradeoffs; optimized standby may delay notifications. Realme’s menu paths vary by UI version and edition, so search Settings for a control if the path below does not match your phone.

1. Reduce display power use first

The display is a practical first place to look. Realme recommends using automatic brightness or lowering brightness manually. A shorter screen timeout also means the display turns off sooner when you stop using the phone.

  • Open Settings > Display & brightness to find brightness controls.
  • Look for Screen timeout in Display settings and choose a shorter interval, such as 15 or 30 seconds, if that suits how you use the phone.

Choose a lower refresh rate if available

A higher refresh rate can make scrolling and motion look smoother, but uses more power. Realme says Standard selects 60 Hz to save power; High selects the highest rate supported by the phone, while Auto select adapts to the application.

Find the setting at Settings > Display & brightness > Screen refresh rate on realme UI 3.0 and later; on UI 2.0 and 1.0, use Settings > Display & brightness > More > Screen refresh rate. The U edition lists Settings > Display > Screen refresh rate. If no refresh-rate option appears, your model may support only 60 Hz. Realme India describes Standard’s 60 Hz behavior in its screen refresh-rate guidance, updated 2025-01-08.

2. Find which apps are using the battery

Check the phone’s own battery-use details before restricting apps. Realme’s global guidance gives the path Settings > Battery > Battery usage details. Review the apps shown there and focus on ones with unusually high use that do not need to work in the background.

Realme’s guidance says app battery management can allow or disable foreground and background activity. Apply restrictions selectively: an app that cannot run or sync in the background may not update until opened, and its notifications may be delayed.

Find app battery management by realme UI version

  • UI 7.0 or 6.0: Settings > Battery > Power saving settings > App battery management.
  • UI 5.0, 4.0 or 3.0: Settings > Battery > Advanced/More settings > Optimized battery use.
  • UI 2.0: Settings > Battery > More battery settings > Optimized battery use.
  • UI S, T, R or Go editions: the listed control is App standby optimizer.
  • UI 1.0 and U edition: realme lists this feature as unsupported.

These paths come from realme India’s app battery management guidance, updated 2025-12-29. Labels and availability differ across editions; if your menu does not match, search Settings for “battery management” or “optimized battery use.”

3. Use Power Saving Mode when its tradeoffs are acceptable

Realme places Power Saving Mode under Settings > Battery. The company says it may close some background apps, suspend automatic synchronization, reduce brightness and turn off touch vibration. This can be useful when you need to stretch the remaining charge, but it can also limit background work and change how the phone feels to use.

Realme’s global phone power-saving tips, updated 2025-04-01, also recommend turning off Wi-Fi, mobile data, Bluetooth and location services when you are not using them. Switch off only connections or services you do not need; disabling connectivity can prevent online apps and location features from working as expected.

4. Consider optimized standby only if delayed notifications are okay

Optimized standby puts the phone into a low-power state while its screen is off. In some sleep scenarios, it can turn off the network. Realme specifically warns that notifications may not arrive on time, so avoid enabling it if timely messages or background updates matter to you.

Where to look

  • UI 7.0: Settings > Battery > Power saving settings > sleep standby optimisation.
  • UI 6.0: Settings > Battery > Power saver options > sleep standby optimization.
  • UI 5.0 or 4.0: Settings > Battery > More settings > Optimized standby > Ultra standby mode.
  • UI 3.0 or 2.0: Settings > Battery > Advanced/More battery settings > Optimized standby > Ultra standby mode.

Realme lists the feature as unsupported on R, Go, S, T and U editions. See realme India’s optimized standby instructions, updated 2025-12-29. If the path differs, search Settings for “standby.”

5. Avoid High Performance Mode when battery life is the priority

Realme says High Performance Mode can increase power consumption and heat, and is mainly intended for gaming. If the option is enabled, turn it off when you want to prioritize runtime over performance.

On realme UI 3.0 and later, look under Settings > Battery > Advanced/More settings > Performance Mode > High Performance Mode. On UI 2.0, the path is Settings > Battery > More battery settings > Performance Mode. GT models use GT mode instead, and Realme lists R, Go, T, S and U editions as not supporting this option. The menu paths and tradeoff are described in realme MEA’s High Performance Mode guidance.

6. Make camera changes for long recording sessions

Video recording can be a particular drain during an extended camera-heavy day. When high image quality is not necessary, Realme recommends recording at 1080p or 30 fps rather than 4K or 60 fps. It also suggests turning off flash and processing features when they are not needed. These are situational adjustments, not a requirement to use lower-quality settings all the time.

See realme India’s camera battery-saving guidance, updated 2025-12-18, for these suggestions.

A sensible order for troubleshooting fast drain

  1. Lower brightness or enable automatic brightness, and shorten screen timeout.
  2. If available, switch refresh rate to Standard and decide whether the smoother motion of a higher rate is worth the extra power use.
  3. Open Settings > Battery > Battery usage details and identify apps consuming the most power.
  4. Restrict background activity only for apps that do not need timely notifications or background updates.
  5. Use Power Saving Mode when its reduced brightness, synchronization, vibration and app activity are acceptable.
  6. Try optimized standby only if delayed notifications are an acceptable tradeoff.

These are manufacturer recommendations, not independently measured battery-life guarantees. The cited Realme support pages do not provide a quantified runtime improvement for any one setting.
