For the broadest access to current Naughty Dog games on PlayStation, choose a PS5. It plays PS5 releases such as The Last of Us Part I and The Last of Us Part II Remastered, and Sony says it is backward compatible with the overwhelming majority of PS4 games, including key Naughty Dog titles from that generation. If you own PS4 discs or need a disc-based upgrade, get a PS5 model with a disc drive.
PS4 or PS5: which should you choose?

Sony describes PS5 as backward compatible with the overwhelming majority of PS4 games. That is not a guarantee that every PS4 title or feature works identically, but it makes PS5 the more flexible choice if you want games from both generations.
How the main Naughty Dog games differ
The Last of Us Part I is a remake
The Last of Us Part I is a ground-up remake for PS5, not an upgrade of the PS3 or PS4 game. Sony says there is no upgrade path from those earlier versions. A PS4 cannot run this PS5 edition. Sony lists the game for PS5 and PC.
The Last of Us Part II and Remastered are separate editions
The Last of Us Part II is the PS4 release. It runs on PS5 through backward compatibility, and its PS5 performance patch, installed as patch 1.08, provides a choice of 30 or 60 fps target. Sony’s patch details explain the performance option.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered is a distinct PS5 edition with additional modes and visual enhancements; it is also listed for PC. Sony describes a paid upgrade path from the PS4 game. If your PS4 copy is physical, you need a PS5 with a disc drive for the upgrade. See the official edition information and Sony’s PS4-to-PS5 upgrade instructions for the applicable details.
The Last of Us Remastered and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection
The Last of Us Remastered is a PS4 release that Sony lists as playable on PS5, although some PS4 features may be missing in backward-compatible play. Check Sony’s game information page for the specific listing.

UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection is a PS5 remaster collection of the single-player campaigns from Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. For the discounted PS5 digital upgrade tied to a PS4 disc copy, Sony requires a PS5 with a disc drive: the disc must be inserted to download or play the upgraded version. A disc-free PS5 cannot claim that disc-owner upgrade. The exact terms are on Sony’s upgrade page.
Do you need a PS5 with a disc drive?
Choose a disc-drive PS5 if you own physical PS4 games you want to use, or if you expect to rely on disc-based upgrade eligibility. In particular, the PS4-disc upgrade routes described by Sony require the disc to be used with a disc-drive PS5. A disc-free model does not provide that option for a physical copy. If your games and upgrades are digital, the disc requirement described above may not apply, but check the edition’s official upgrade terms before buying.

What about playing on PC?
PC is an alternative for selected releases, not a PlayStation console choice. Sony lists The Last of Us Part I and The Last of Us Part II Remastered for PC, but availability varies by title. If you specifically want a PlayStation system, PS5 is the single-console option that covers the cited current PS5 editions as well as most PS4 games.
