If you unlocked The Shape—Dead by Daylight’s Michael Myers—before the Halloween Chapter was removed on January 19, 2026, you can still play him. If you did not own him by the cutoff, there is no official way documented to unlock him now. Chucky is a separate case: as of November 4, 2026, he is still available to acquire, but Behaviour says that ends at 11am ET on November 24, 2026.
Which licensed killers are unavailable right now?
The Shape is the confirmed licensed killer in the official notices reviewed here who is no longer available for new acquisition. Behaviour Interactive removed the Halloween Chapter and its associated content from platform stores at 11am ET on January 19, 2026. The cutoff determines whether you can play The Shape: players who unlocked him before then retain access; players who did not cannot newly acquire him through the removed Chapter. Behaviour’s Halloween licence-removal FAQ explains the change.
Two other licensed killers are easy to confuse with that situation, but neither belongs on a current list of permanently unavailable characters. Chucky is scheduled for removal, not yet removed: Behaviour says his content remains available to acquire until 11am ET on November 24, 2026. The Demogorgon returned with the Stranger Things Chapter in 2023. These dates and distinctions reflect the official notices available as of November 4, 2026; they do not establish a complete history of every regional or platform-specific delisting.
| Killer | Acquisition status | What happens to existing owners? |
|---|---|---|
| The Shape (Michael Myers) | Unavailable to new buyers since 11am ET, January 19, 2026 | Can still play and continue progressing the character |
| Chucky (The Good Guy) | Available to acquire until 11am ET, November 24, 2026 | Owners retain access under Behaviour’s announced legacy-access rules after removal |
| The Demogorgon | Returned to availability with the Stranger Things Chapter in 2023 | Availability returned; it is not a current permanently delisted example |
The dates and ownership rules in this table come from Behaviour’s Halloween FAQ, its Chucky FAQ, and the official Stranger Things return announcement.

“Unavailable” here means unavailable for a new acquisition through the announced official channels; it does not mean the character was deleted from every existing player’s account. The Shape’s case is specifically a split between new buyers and people who already unlocked him. That distinction matters if you are looking at an old guide, a friend’s roster, or a store listing: the same killer can remain playable for one player while being unavailable to another.
The Halloween removal also covered Laurie Strode, not only The Shape. Both characters became unavailable to new acquisition when the Halloween Chapter and associated content left platform stores. The notice therefore affects the Chapter’s acquisition status more broadly, even though the central killer question is whether a player can select The Shape.
Can I still play Michael Myers if I already bought him?
Yes. If The Shape was unlocked before the January 19, 2026 deadline, he remains playable in Dead by Daylight. Behaviour’s FAQ says: “Any content unlocked before 19th January 2026 deadline will still be playable in game.”
Open the normal Killer roster and select The Shape as an owned character. The removal did not end access for previous owners: Behaviour says they can continue leveling and prestiging him, obtaining add-ons, and receiving bug fixes if needed. The key condition is that the character was unlocked before the cutoff; the fact that the Halloween Chapter is no longer in a store does not by itself remove an existing unlock.
In other words, the store delisting and in-game ownership are different things. The Chapter’s removal closes the documented acquisition route for new players, while the legacy rule preserves the character for players who had unlocked the content in time. The announcement also explicitly covers ongoing character progression. It is not a rule that freezes an already-owned Shape at his current level, blocks further prestiges, or makes his add-ons unavailable.
If you owned him before the deadline but do not see him, first check that you are using the game account and platform associated with the original unlock. The FAQ confirms the general legacy-access rule, but it does not set out a troubleshooting process for every account-recovery or platform issue. For a missing entitlement, use the relevant platform or Behaviour support route rather than assuming that the license removal invalidated the original ownership.
How do I get The Shape if the Halloween Chapter is gone?
If you had not unlocked The Shape by 11am ET on January 19, 2026, the official removal notice does not provide a post-cutoff purchase or unlock route. The Halloween Chapter is no longer available for acquisition through the official store channels described in that notice.

In practical terms, there are two different situations:
- You unlocked him before the deadline: use him from the regular Killer roster; your existing character access remains.
- You did not unlock him before the deadline: you cannot newly unlock or purchase him through the delisted Halloween Chapter. The sources reviewed document no official alternative.
Do not treat a third-party key, someone else’s account, or a region change as a legitimate workaround. Behaviour’s notice sets prior ownership as the access condition and does not endorse those methods. A change of region or an unofficial transaction is not evidence that the character is officially available to a new account.
That means there is no supported set of steps to follow for a new unlock after the cutoff: no post-removal code, in-game currency option, or alternate official purchase path is documented in the Halloween FAQ. Avoid claims that a listing or offer can restore access unless Behaviour or the relevant official platform channel confirms it. The safe answer to “How do I get The Shape now?” is that a player who missed the cutoff has no documented official route, rather than that an unverified workaround is guaranteed to work.
The deadline is an exact time, not simply the end of January 19 in every time zone. Behaviour set it at 11am ET on January 19, 2026. If you are checking whether an unlock happened before the cutoff, use that stated time and the account’s actual entitlement history—not a calendar date by itself.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhat happened to The Shape’s perks and the Halloween map?
The removal affects more than whether a new player can select The Shape. His former perks remain obtainable by players who did not unlock him, but they appear in the general perk pool under renamed titles. Existing owners retain the original perk names and descriptions. That lets non-owners access the perks in renamed form, but it does not grant access to The Shape as a playable killer.
This is an important distinction for players who want a particular gameplay option but do not own the character. The former perks are not described as locked away with the delisted Chapter; they remain obtainable in the general pool. But acquiring those perks is not equivalent to owning the licensed character, and it does not add The Shape to the Killer roster. Existing owners keep the original names and descriptions, while the non-owner route uses renamed versions.
Haddonfield was removed from the map rotation, and the Strode Realty Key was retired from the Bloodweb. Those changes are separate from the ownership rule for The Shape: owning the killer preserves the character and its ongoing progression, but does not mean the removed map or retired offering remains available in the same way.

So it is useful to treat the Halloween content as several related but distinct pieces: The Shape and Laurie Strode became unavailable for new acquisition; former perks remain available in renamed general-pool form to non-owners; Haddonfield left the map rotation; and the Strode Realty Key was retired from the Bloodweb. The removal notice does not say that every element follows the same access rule. If your concern is a specific cosmetic, map, perk, or offering rather than the killer, check the relevant item in Behaviour’s FAQ instead of inferring its status from the character’s status.

Can you still buy Chucky in Dead by Daylight?
Yes, as of November 4, 2026. Behaviour’s October 21 FAQ says Chucky content “will be unavailable to acquire after 11am ET on November 24th 2026.” Until that deadline, players can still acquire Chucky and his current cosmetics through the available official channels. After the cutoff, players who already own the content retain access under the announced legacy-access rules.
That makes Chucky a deadline warning, not an already delisted killer. If you want him, check the official in-game or platform-store options before the stated time; the FAQ does not describe a way for new players to acquire him after removal. The precise cutoff is Eastern Time, so account for the difference between ET and your local time rather than assuming the deadline is midnight where you live. Details are in Behaviour’s Chucky DLC licence-removal FAQ.
Behaviour’s Community Manager gave the deadline as: “Chucky content in Dead by Daylight will be unavailable to acquire after 11am ET on November 24th 2026.” That wording is about acquisition. It does not say that existing owners lose the content on November 24; the same FAQ announces legacy access for owners. If you are deciding whether to acquire him, distinguish the deadline for new acquisition from the announced rule for people who already own him.

As with the Halloween cutoff, do not wait until a last-minute local midnight based on guesswork. The stated time is 11am ET. Check an official channel for current availability and allow for your time-zone conversion; the source does not give a separate deadline for each local region. The available information also does not supply a price comparison or guarantee that every platform storefront will present the same purchasing flow, so check your own official store rather than relying on an old price or listing.
Did the Demogorgon come back to Dead by Daylight?
Yes. The Stranger Things Chapter left Dead by Daylight in November 2021, but Behaviour announced its return on November 6, 2023. The Demogorgon, Steve Harrington, Nancy Wheeler, the Jonathan Byers Legendary Outfit, the Underground Complex map, and Stranger Things outfits returned to availability.

So the Demogorgon should not be treated as a currently unavailable killer based on the earlier removal alone. The return is also a reminder that a past delisting does not prove that a character is permanently unavailable; check the latest official status before relying on an old list. Behaviour’s announcement is at Stranger Things Chapter Returns.
The Stranger Things history is a useful comparison with Halloween, but it is not a promise that Halloween content will return. It shows that one Chapter that had left availability later returned, including its killer, survivors, map, and listed outfits. It does not establish a general schedule, guarantee that other licensed Chapters will come back, or change the current access rule for The Shape. For a status check, use the specific announcement for the Chapter in question.

Separate three questions that older guides often blur together: whether new players can acquire the character now, whether previous owners retain access, and whether the character is scheduled for a future removal. The Shape is delisted with an ownership cutoff in the past; Chucky has a future cutoff on November 24, 2026; and the Demogorgon returned after an earlier departure.
- Look for an official removal notice. Confirm that it identifies the character or Chapter and gives a date and time. A past departure or an outdated store listing alone does not settle current availability.
- Read the ownership clause separately. A license removal can stop new acquisition while preserving access for people who unlocked the content before the deadline. That is the rule Behaviour states for The Shape and has announced for Chucky.
- Check what “content” includes. A character, perks, cosmetics, map, and an offering can receive different treatment. For Halloween, non-owners retain access to renamed general-pool versions of the former perks, while Haddonfield left the map rotation and the Strode Realty Key was retired.
- Use the correct status label. “Unavailable,” “scheduled to become unavailable,” and “returned” are not interchangeable. Chucky remains acquirable before his announced cutoff; the Demogorgon returned in 2023.
The official announcements support these three cases, but they are not a comprehensive archive of every historical or regional store change. For a different licensed killer, verify its current status in an official Behaviour notice rather than assuming that the same cutoff or legacy rule applies.
A quick comparison helps prevent the most common mistake: seeing a character absent from a store and concluding that every owner has lost access. For The Shape, the acquisition door closed in January, while existing owners keep playing and progressing. For Chucky, the announced acquisition door is still open on November 4 and closes in November; owners are covered by the announced legacy rule. For The Demogorgon, the older departure is no longer the latest status because the Chapter returned. The dates are not interchangeable, and the Halloween deadline should not be applied to Chucky or other licensed characters.
Also separate access from associated content. The Halloween notice describes what happened to perks, Haddonfield, and the Strode Realty Key; those details cannot automatically be transferred to another Chapter. Chucky’s notice provides its own timing and legacy-access information, while the Stranger Things return announcement lists the content that came back. When a question concerns an outfit, map, add-on, charm, or achievement, look for that specific item in the relevant official notice rather than assuming all associated content follows the killer’s rule.

What is the bottom line for players?
If you already unlocked The Shape before 11am ET on January 19, 2026, you can still play him and keep progressing him. If you did not, no official post-removal route is documented; his former perks remain available in renamed general-pool form, but that is not the same as unlocking the killer. Chucky is still acquirable as of November 4, 2026, with removal scheduled for 11am ET on November 24, while the Demogorgon returned in 2023.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will The Shape disappear from my account if I reinstall Dead by Daylight?
Behaviour’s notice says previously unlocked content remains playable, but it does not describe every platform’s reinstall or account-recovery process. If an owned character does not appear, consult the support channel for the platform and account where the content was originally unlocked.
Can I still unlock Myers’s old perks without owning The Shape?
Yes. The former perks remain in the general perk pool under renamed titles for players who did not unlock The Shape. The original perk names and descriptions remain with existing owners.
Which Stranger Things characters returned with the Demogorgon?
The 2023 return included Steve Harrington and Nancy Wheeler, along with the Jonathan Byers Legendary Outfit. The announcement also included the Underground Complex map and Stranger Things outfits.
What time zone is the Chucky removal deadline in?
Behaviour states the deadline as 11am ET on November 24, 2026. Convert Eastern Time to your local time if you are planning an acquisition close to the deadline.
Is Michael Myers permanently removed from DBD?
The Shape is unavailable for new acquisition after the January 19, 2026 cutoff, and Behaviour’s Halloween FAQ documents no later unlock route. Existing owners retain access. The notice does not establish whether the content could ever return in the future, so “unavailable to new buyers now” is more precise than claiming a permanent, irrevocable removal.
Can I get The Shape by buying an account or changing regions?
Behaviour’s notice does not document or endorse either as an acquisition method. It identifies prior ownership before the cutoff as the condition for continued access; use official channels and do not treat unofficial account transactions or region changes as a legitimate unlock.
Does owning The Shape mean I can still play Haddonfield?
No such owner exception is stated. Behaviour says Haddonfield was removed from the map rotation, while existing Shape owners retain the killer and ongoing progression. The map’s status and character ownership are separate.
Can I still acquire Chucky after November 24, 2026?
Behaviour’s October 21 FAQ says Chucky content becomes unavailable to acquire after 11am ET on November 24, 2026. It announces legacy access for existing owners but does not document a post-cutoff acquisition route for new players.
The Bottom Line
The Shape remains playable for anyone who unlocked him before 11am ET on January 19, 2026; players who missed that deadline have no documented official way to get him now. Chucky is still acquirable as of November 4, with a November 24 cutoff ahead. The Demogorgon returned in 2023, so do not mistake its earlier departure for its current status.
