SmartRecruiters had the lowest among the listed systems, at 3%. Those are results from one capped sample—not a general ranking of ATS platforms or a measure of every employer using them.
Which ATS showed salary most often in this sample?
Tidy Tools reported that 1,691 of 3,141 postings, or 54%, included a detected salary range. The comparison by ATS was:
| ATS | Postings with a detected salary range | Observed rate |
|---|---|---|
| Ashby | 531 of 705 | 75% |
| Greenhouse | 724 of 1,281 | 57% |
| Lever | 110 of 228 | 48% |
| Workday | 304 of 750 | 41% |
| SmartRecruiters | 4 of 150 | 3% |
These counts and percentages are Tidy Tools’ reported results for its collection on 30 September 2026; they describe detected ranges in that sample, not all jobs hosted on those systems. The author specifically says the Workday result is understated because the parser missed NVIDIA salary formats.
What the numbers do—and do not—measure
The collection began with a detection pass across 30 well-known technology companies. It identified job boards for 28 companies and reported 14,807 open jobs across them. A second run collected up to the first 150 jobs per company, in batches of ten, returning 3,141 postings with normalized fields such as title, location, workplace type, posting date, description, and salary fields.

#1 Best Overall
This was a bounded snapshot, not a census or salary survey. The findings depend on which companies and roles were included, the regions represented, the collection date, and what the parser could recognize. Netflix was described as using its own unsupported site; an attempted Plaid Lever board returned a 404; and Visa’s board had no jobs when checked. Those factors shape the dataset and limit what can be inferred from its rates.
How salary detection differed across systems
Ashby included structured compensation data
Ashby was the only ATS in this sample for which the author reported structured compensation fields. Of its 531 salary-positive postings, 447 were identified from those fields; the rest were extracted from job descriptions.
Other systems relied on description text
For Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, and SmartRecruiters, the author says the scraper parsed descriptions and split salary text into minimum, maximum, currency, and pay period. That means the reported rates reflect both whether employers disclosed compensation and whether the text parser recognized the way it was written.
Formatting errors changed observed results
An Intel range written as $158,200.00-264,460.00 USD initially produced no detections because the second amount lacked a dollar sign. After the parser was changed to recognize that format, Intel’s count rose from zero to 91 salary detections among the 150 postings in the sample.

The parser did not recognize NVIDIA’s format, 184,000 USD - 287,500 USD for Level 4, …. As a result, salary fields were blank for all 150 sampled NVIDIA postings. The author says this omission makes the reported 41% Workday rate too low for the sample, but does not provide a corrected Workday percentage.
Salary figures across the sampled postings
Among 1,561 postings with yearly USD ranges, Tidy Tools reported a median midpoint of $205,360. Among 288 postings whose title contained “software engineer,” the median range was $190,800–$277,050. Both figures describe only the postings the scraper identified and normalized; they should not be treated as market-wide pay benchmarks.

How to use the comparison when choosing where to look
The sample suggests Ashby job postings were more likely than postings on the other listed systems to have a detected range, but an ATS name alone cannot tell you whether a particular employer or role will publish pay. When comparing job boards or interpreting a missing range, keep these distinctions in mind:
- Structured field versus description text: a salary stored in a compensation field is not the same as text detected in a description.
- Parser recognition: a blank salary field can mean no range was published, or that its format was missed.
- Company and role mix: the sample reflects a limited set of technology employers and a maximum of 150 jobs per company, not a representative cross-section of employers.
- Geography: this dataset does not establish how jurisdiction affects pay disclosure. Region is a sensible factor to investigate, but these results cannot show that it caused the differences.
The original author describes the collection as a scraper run on 30 September 2026 and published the results in a DEV Community article posted 1 October and edited 3 October 2026. The findings are attributed to that author; the article does not present an independent audit or separate vendor verification.
