The recipe directions are specific to that preparation; they are not independently tested universal settings.
- Prepare the mixture: The recipe uses boiled potato and arrowroot for the outer layer. Drain excess water from the potatoes and cool the mash; the author cautions that wet or overcooked potatoes can make the dough sticky. Avoid overfilling, which can prevent the patties from sealing.
- Preheat and shape evenly: Set the appliance to 180°C if its manual calls for preheating. Consistent patty size helps the batch cook more evenly.
- Oil lightly and arrange with space: Brush or spray the surfaces lightly, then leave room between patties rather than covering the basket floor.
- Cook and turn gently: Use 12–15 minutes as the recipe’s initial range. Flip each patty carefully around the halfway point; a gentle individual turn is better suited to fragile stuffed patties than shaking the basket.
- Check the first batch: Inspect browning and doneness, then adjust time or batch size for your patty dimensions and appliance. Follow the model’s manual for operating instructions and cleaning.

Should you use a liner?
Do not cover the basket floor with a solid liner: blocking airflow can affect cooking. Tefal says paper or foil can be used in its Fry Delight model but should not fully cover the bottom, and loose paper should not be placed in an appliance without food holding it down. Accessory rules depend on the exact air fryer, so follow its manual before using a liner.
