For UK economic releases, use the Office for National Statistics (ONS) release calendar. For German federal data, use Destatis’s GENESIS-Online database and weekly press preview; for Bundesbank statistics, use the Bundesbank’s release calendar. Eurostat adds EU-level releases and comparisons. Each service covers a different publisher or need, so choose the source first, then check its date and status before relying on a release schedule.
Choose the source that publishes the data
| Source | Best for | Dates and updates | Practical limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| ONS release calendar | UK national statistics and their scheduled releases | Search and filter listings; RSS, email alerts and add-to-calendar options are offered where shown. | Check the listing’s date and status, and filter the calendar to the relevant topic or series. |
| Destatis GENESIS-Online | German federal data, custom tables and downloads | Search the database and follow new-data information through newsfeeds. | It is primarily a data database; Destatis’s weekly press preview is the clearer list of planned releases. |
| Destatis weekly press preview | Planned German federal press releases | Lists expected dates and reporting periods, with the preview revised weekly. | Destatis may add press releases beyond those listed. |
| Deutsche Bundesbank release calendar | Statistical releases produced by the Bundesbank | Filter the calendar by time period and category. | It does not cover every German official release; some seasonally adjusted business-statistics dates are listed by Destatis or the Federal Employment Agency. |
| Eurostat release calendar | EU-level indicators and harmonised cross-country context | Filter the annual calendar by statistical theme or release category. | For national release schedules and detailed national data, use the relevant national publisher. |
A release calendar tells you when a publication is expected. A data-update feed tells you when a database has new or revised material. If you need both advance notice and updated data, follow the appropriate calendar and feed rather than assuming one replaces the other.
Set up a useful release watch
-
Identify the producer and geography
Use ONS for UK national statistics, Destatis for German federal statistics, the Bundesbank calendar for Bundesbank products, and Eurostat for EU-level releases. A statistic’s subject alone may not identify its publisher, so check the source of the series you follow.
-
Search by series, subject or code
In the ONS calendar, search by keyword or time-series ID, then narrow the results with the available date or publication-status filters. In GENESIS-Online, search by subject or statistical code; the database lists statistical codes for its data.

Check the date and publication status
ONS listings distinguish statuses such as published, upcoming, confirmed, provisional and cancelled. Treat a confirmed date as scheduled and a provisional date as subject to change. Destatis’s preview gives expected dates, but the office says it may add releases that are not in the planned list. Recheck the publisher’s page shortly before a release.
-
Subscribe using the option the service documents
Use an ONS RSS feed or email alert, or add a release to your calendar when those controls are available on the listing. For GENESIS-Online, follow new-data information through the documented newsfeeds. The Bundesbank and Eurostat calendars are useful for schedule monitoring; do not assume they provide email alerts unless the page offers that option.
-
Use database tools when you need repeatable data
For German data, GENESIS-Online supports custom tables, machine-readable downloads, visualisations and a web-service API. These tools are more suitable than relying only on a press-release page when you need to retrieve or reuse data regularly.
Use the current Destatis route for short-term indicators
Destatis announced on 13 April 2026 that its Short-term indicators page would stop being updated from October 2026 and be deactivated at the start of 2027. For continuing access, use the Economic Dashboard or GENESIS-Online instead. Destatis describes the dashboard as a straightforward way to view current, high-frequency indicators; GENESIS-Online provides database search, tables, downloads, charts and API access.

Check schedules close to publication
Release calendars and feeds are live services, and dates can change. Use the publisher’s page as the final reference when planning around a release. In particular, treat provisional dates as changeable and the Destatis weekly preview as a plan rather than a guarantee that no additional release will appear.
