In the current New Yahoo Mail desktop interface, Contacts is in the right-side panel, not the left sidebar. Click Contacts there; if the panel is hidden, hover over the right edge of the email list and click the expand icon. The location differs by device: the iPhone and iPad app puts Contacts under the Profile icon, the Android app calls the area People, and Classic Yahoo Mail has a separate Contacts icon.

Use the instructions for the version you have open: the desktop website, Yahoo Mail app, and mobile browser do not all put the address book in the same place. If a label or icon in one set of directions does not match your screen, check the device-specific section below rather than assuming Contacts is missing.

Where is Contacts in the current Yahoo Mail desktop interface?

In New Yahoo Mail on a desktop browser, look in the panel on the right side of the mail screen. Click Contacts to open your address book. Yahoo’s current contact instructions place it in that panel, alongside icons for Starred, Calendar, and Notepad. These are separate controls in the right panel, so choose Contacts rather than the Starred or Calendar icon when you want to view or manage address-book entries.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If the right panel is hidden

  1. Move your pointer to the right edge of the email list.
  2. When the panel’s expand icon appears, click it.
  3. Choose Contacts from the revealed panel.

This is the documented fix when Contacts seems to have disappeared in New Yahoo Mail; see Yahoo’s instructions for showing the right panel. If you were looking in the left sidebar for a dedicated Contacts icon, you may be following instructions for the older interface. The left-sidebar/dedicated-icon description is associated with Classic Yahoo Mail; it is not the location Yahoo gives for Contacts in the current New Yahoo Mail desktop layout.

(The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)

Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)

How do I add, edit, or delete a contact on desktop?

In New Yahoo Mail, open Contacts from the right panel. You can add a contact from the All list, or save a sender directly from an email; editing and deleting start from the contact’s entry. The basic distinction is useful: use All when creating a new entry yourself, or open a message when the person has already emailed you.

Add a new contact

  1. Open Contacts in the right panel.
  2. Select All.
  3. Click the More options icon.
  4. Choose Add a new contact, enter the details, and click Save.

These are Yahoo’s steps for adding and managing contacts in New Yahoo Mail. If you do not see the add option, confirm that you are in Contacts and have selected All before opening More options.

Save someone who emailed you

  1. Open the sender’s message.
  2. Move the pointer over the sender’s name or email address.
  3. Click Add to contacts.
  4. Enter or review the contact information, then click Save.

This route starts from the message rather than from the address book. It is a desktop option documented for New Yahoo Mail and gives you a way to add a sender without first opening the All list.

Edit or delete a contact

  1. Open Contacts in the right panel and select the contact’s name.
  2. Click the More options icon.
  3. Choose Edit contact to change the entry, or Delete contact to remove it.
  4. If deleting, confirm by clicking OK.

Editing and deleting act on the selected contact entry. Yahoo’s documented delete flow includes an OK confirmation, so deletion is not complete until you accept that prompt.

Where are contacts in Yahoo Mail on iPhone or iPad?

In Yahoo Mail for iPhone and iPad, open the Profile icon and scroll to the bottom of the menu to find Contacts. The app’s entry point is different from Android’s People area. If you are following Android directions that say to open People, they do not describe the iOS app.

  • COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
  • INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.

View the full list

  1. Tap the Profile icon.
  2. Scroll down and tap Contacts.
  3. Under a selected letter, tap View More to see the complete set for that letter.
  4. Tap a contact to open it.

The View More step matters when you are browsing by letter: tap it under the selected letter to see the complete set for that letter, then select the person whose entry you need.

Edit or delete on iOS

  1. Go to Profile → Contacts → View More, then open the contact.
  2. Tap the contact details icon, then the More icon.
  3. Choose Edit or Delete. For deletion, tap Ok to confirm.

Yahoo documents this iOS path in its iPhone and iPad contact help. One exception: business information automatically generated from subscriptions may not be editable in the iOS contacts view. If the information is a generated business detail rather than an ordinary contact field, the app may not offer an edit action for it.

Why does the Android app say People instead of Contacts?

Yahoo Mail for Android labels its contact area People. To browse, open People, tap View all beside Top Contacts, and select a person. Yahoo’s Android instructions use this label, so iPhone directions that begin with the Profile icon do not match the Android app. Look for People in the Android app instead of searching for an iOS-style Contacts menu.

Edit or delete on Android

  1. Open People and choose the contact.
  2. Tap the More icon.
  3. Choose Edit or Delete Contact.

Add a contact on Android

Yahoo’s Android help page says a new contact cannot be added from the Android app. To create one, open Yahoo Mail in a mobile web browser and use the Contacts page there. This is a specific limitation of the Android app’s documented workflow, not a reason to look for a hidden add button in People.

How do I find Contacts in a mobile browser?

In a mobile browser, open the Yahoo Mail sidebar and tap Contacts. This is also the documented workaround for adding a contact when using the Android app. Be sure you are using Yahoo Mail in the browser rather than the Android app, since Yahoo directs Android users to the browser for creating a new entry.

  2. Tap the Add Contact icon at the top right.
  3. Enter the person’s details and tap Save.

Sort, edit, or delete contacts

  • Sort: In Contacts, tap the Sort icon and choose First name or Last name. This changes the order in which you browse the contact list.
  • Edit or delete: Search for the contact, tap the Contacts icon and then the More options icon, and choose Edit contact or Delete contact.

Yahoo documents these actions on its mobile-browser contact help page. The mobile-browser instructions differ from desktop: they begin in the sidebar, and the add control is at the top right of Contacts.

Is the Contacts icon in the left sidebar in Classic Yahoo Mail?

Classic Yahoo Mail uses a dedicated Contacts icon. Its documented route is Yahoo Mail → Contacts icon → All → Add a new contact → Save. Yahoo marks these instructions as applying to Classic Yahoo Mail only; they do not describe where Contacts appears in the current New Yahoo Mail desktop layout.

If you are using the classic interface, follow Yahoo’s Classic Yahoo Mail contact instructions. For the current layout, use the right panel instead. This interface distinction explains why two sets of Yahoo directions may seem to disagree: one is for Classic, and the other is for New Yahoo Mail.

What if Yahoo Mail automatically adds or enhances contact details?

New Yahoo Mail has an Enhance Contacts setting, enabled by default, that automatically enriches contact information from correspondence. You can turn it off in settings; Yahoo notes that disabling it removes information previously enhanced from correspondence. If you disable the feature, do not expect those previously enhanced details to remain in the contact record.

  1. Click the More options icon.
  2. Open Settings, then Contacts.
  3. Click Disable beside Enhance Contacts.

To turn the feature back on, use the same path and select Enable. See Yahoo’s Enhance Contacts setting instructions. This setting is separate from opening Contacts or manually editing a selected entry.

Why can’t I find the Contacts control?

First identify which Yahoo Mail experience and device you are using; the control does not have one universal location. On desktop New Yahoo Mail, check whether the right panel is collapsed. On iOS, open Profile; on Android, look for People; and on a mobile browser, open the sidebar. The most common mismatch is looking for a dedicated left-side Contacts icon while using New Yahoo Mail, or following instructions written for the other phone platform.

  • Desktop New Yahoo Mail: Expand the right panel from the email list’s right edge, then choose Contacts.
  • iPhone or iPad: Open Profile and scroll down to Contacts.
  • Android: Open People. For creating a new entry, switch to a mobile browser.
  • Mobile browser: Open the Yahoo Mail sidebar and choose Contacts.
  • Classic desktop: Look for the dedicated Contacts icon described in Yahoo’s Classic-only instructions.

Yahoo’s current documentation describes contact management as graphical interface actions. It does not provide a current keyboard command, direct URL route, shell command, or API command for opening Contacts. Use the matching on-screen control rather than relying on an undocumented shortcut or route.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I open Yahoo Contacts with a keyboard shortcut?

Yahoo’s current contact help pages document navigation through on-screen controls and do not list a keyboard shortcut for opening Contacts. If you need the address book, use the entry point for your device or interface.

Can I open Yahoo Contacts with a direct link?

Yahoo’s contact instructions do not publish a direct URL route for opening the address book. The documented methods are through Yahoo Mail’s desktop panel, app menu, or mobile-browser sidebar.

Does deleting a Yahoo contact also delete the messages from that person?

Yahoo’s contact-management instructions explain how to remove an address-book entry but do not say that deleting it removes email messages. They should not be treated as the same action based on those instructions.

On iPhone or iPad, use Profile → Contacts; on Android, use People; and in a mobile browser, open the sidebar → Contacts. The Classic desktop Contacts icon belongs to the older interface, not the current New Yahoo Mail layout.
