Samsung Vietnam specifically identifies its Bac Ninh factory as producing batteries for mobile devices. Samsung does not disclose which plant supplies each Galaxy phone, so a phone’s model or assembly country alone cannot establish its battery’s origin.
Which countries make Samsung phone batteries?
Samsung SDI’s official global network lists battery operations in South Korea, China, Malaysia and Vietnam. Its Cheonan site in South Korea is identified as a small-sized-battery plant; other listed locations include Tianjin, China, Sungai Gadut, Malaysia, and Bac Ninh, Vietnam. The clearest phone-relevant disclosure is from Samsung Vietnam: it describes Samsung SDI Vietnam’s Bac Ninh factory as producing and supplying batteries for mobile devices and road-transport vehicles. That establishes Vietnam as one location for mobile-device battery production, but the disclosure does not identify which Galaxy models use batteries from that factory. Does every Galaxy phone have a battery made in Vietnam?
No such generalization is supported by Samsung’s public disclosures. They establish battery operations in several countries and mobile-device battery production in Vietnam, but do not map a specific Galaxy model—or a model sold in a particular market—to a particular battery plant. The country of origin for an individual phone battery therefore cannot be determined from these disclosures alone.

Who makes Samsung Galaxy batteries?
Samsung SDI is the Samsung business whose published network and Vietnam factory information describe battery operations, including mobile-device battery production. Samsung SDI’s 2025 Sustainability Report records 1,461 million cells produced in 2024 in the combined “Mobile & Power Battery” category. That figure covers mobile and power batteries together; it is not a count of phone batteries or Samsung-phone batteries alone. Why phone assembly does not reveal battery origin
Making a battery and assembling a phone are separate operations. Samsung’s Vietnam newsroom has reported phone production at its SEVT factory, including a Galaxy S24 Ultra milestone device, while Samsung separately describes the Bac Ninh Samsung SDI site as a battery producer. What Samsung discloses about battery testing
Samsung describes internal validation and external quality testing for Galaxy batteries. Its Vietnam-language battery-safety page names durability, visual, X-ray, charge/discharge, TVOC, disassembly, accelerated-use and OCV tests. Samsung cautions that test types and scope can vary by product, so this list should not be read as a fixed sequence performed identically on every battery or as a complete description of the factory process. Samsung’s public information reviewed here does not document a complete, model-specific cell-manufacturing sequence. It supports describing battery production locations and quality checks, but not attributing particular steps—such as electrode preparation, electrolyte filling or formation—to a specific Galaxy battery without additional evidence.

Battery materials are not the same as manufacturing location
Samsung says the Galaxy S25 battery uses a minimum of 50% recycled cobalt, sourced from used Galaxy devices or batteries discarded during manufacturing.
