iOS 26.2 added seven notable changes for Reminders, AirDrop, the Lock Screen, Podcasts, Sleep Score, Freeform, and Apple News. It is no longer the latest iOS release: Apple’s update history lists versions through iOS 26.7.1 as of October 8, 2026. To install the latest version available for your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Software Update.
What iOS 26.2 added
These seven features are useful highlights, not a complete changelog. Apple’s official iOS update history lists additional changes in 26.2, and notes that feature availability can vary by iPhone model and region.
1. Alarm-style alerts for urgent Reminders
Mark a reminder as Urgent to give it an alarm-style alert. When the alarm sounds, you can stop or snooze it; Apple also lists Live Activity support. This gives time-sensitive tasks more prominence than a standard reminder notification. Apple’s iOS 26.2 notes describe the alarms as a way to keep urgent tasks in view when you are not ready to check them off.
2. AirDrop verification codes for people outside your contacts
iOS 26.2 adds a code check for an AirDrop transfer with someone who is not in your contacts. The recipient’s device displays a code, which the sender enters to complete the transfer. This makes it possible to share with a non-contact while keeping AirDrop set to Contacts Only, rather than temporarily making the device discoverable to everyone. Apple’s release notes describe the verification step.

3. A Liquid Glass opacity control for the Lock Screen clock
The Lock Screen clock has an additional customization option for adjusting the opacity of its Liquid Glass material. It offers more control over the clock’s appearance without changing the time display itself. Apple confirms the added option in its iOS 26.2 notes.
4. More useful navigation in Apple Podcasts
Apple Podcasts can generate episode chapters automatically, and the player and transcript can link to podcasts mentioned in an episode. TechRadar also reports easier access to websites mentioned on an episode page. Together, these changes make it simpler to move through an episode and follow references without searching for them separately. Apple’s notes confirm the chapters and podcast links; the website-navigation detail is reported by TechRadar.

5. Updated Sleep Score categories
TechRadar reports that iOS 26.2 changed the Sleep Score category thresholds and renamed “Very High” to “Excellent.” Apple’s update-history notes do not list the revised cutoffs, so there is no basis here for giving exact threshold values. The practical change is to how the score is categorized and labeled, not a new numerical score scale established in Apple’s release notes. TechRadar’s feature report covers the change.
6. Tables in Freeform
Freeform gained tables that can contain text, images, documents, and drawings. Cells resize to fit their contents, making tables a more structured way to organize mixed material on a board. The feature is documented in Apple’s 26.2 release notes.
