iOS 26.2.1 adds support for AirTag (2nd generation) and includes unspecified bug fixes, according to Apple. Apple’s release notes do not list a modem upgrade or identify the bugs fixed. Apple’s update page now lists later iOS 26 releases, including iOS 26.7.1, so check which update is offered for your iPhone before installing.
What iOS 26.2.1 changes
Apple’s release note says: “This update provides support for AirTag (2nd generation) along with bug fixes.” That is the full description of the update’s changes in the official entry; it does not provide bug identifiers or explain what the fixes address. Apple’s iOS 26 update notes
AirTag (2nd generation) support
The named feature is software support for Apple’s second-generation item tracker. AirTag is used with the Find My app to help locate items such as keys and bags. The update’s release note does not specify a compatible-iPhone list or minimum software requirements for the tracker, so check Apple’s current compatibility guidance for your devices before buying one.
Apple’s current AirTag product page describes the second generation as having a speaker that is 50% louder and Precision Finding range that is up to 1.5 times greater than the prior generation. Those are Apple’s comparisons, not independently verified measurements here. Apple also says an AirTag can be shared with up to five people. Apple AirTag

Bug fixes
Apple confirms that bug fixes are included but does not say which problems they address. The 26.2.1 entry therefore does not establish that it fixes a specific battery, cellular, reception, or connectivity issue. Features and fixes listed under the separate iOS 26.2 entry should not be treated as changes introduced by 26.2.1.

Does iOS 26.2.1 include a modem upgrade?
Apple does not list a modem upgrade in the iOS 26.2.1 notes. The public entry provides no details about modem or cellular changes, so it is not a basis for claiming improved reception, faster cellular speeds, broader carrier compatibility, or better battery life. The notes describe what Apple publicly lists; they do not establish whether any undocumented internal changes exist.
