The movie is not a game you control.
Which titles are included?
Square Enix lists three components in KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. Nintendo’s US Nintendo Switch 2 listing confirms their formats:
| Included title | What it is |
|---|---|
| KINGDOM HEARTS Dream Drop Distance HD | A playable HD remaster of the portable game, originally released in 2012, according to Square Enix and Nintendo. |
| KINGDOM HEARTS 0.2: Birth by Sleep – A fragmentary passage – | A short playable episode that links to KINGDOM HEARTS III, as described by Nintendo. |
| KINGDOM HEARTS χ Back Cover | An HD movie about the Foretellers and the series’ origins, not a playable game, according to Nintendo. |
Is χ Back Cover a game or a movie?
It is a movie. Nintendo explicitly describes χ Back Cover as an HD movie, so it is a story experience to watch rather than a separate game to play.
Is 0.2 Birth by Sleep playable?
Yes. KINGDOM HEARTS 0.2: Birth by Sleep – A fragmentary passage – is a short playable episode. Nintendo describes it as linking to KINGDOM HEARTS III.
