MSFN Forums appears active, and members have recently reported a forum and server upgrade that was followed by successful sign-ins. One member also said the server no longer used Cloudflare, which may explain why their Cloudflare loop stopped. MSFN has not surfaced an official explanation or complete changelog in the available material.

Is MSFN Forums down or closing?

The available forum index and recent discussions indicate that MSFN Forums was continuing to operate in the captured snapshot; they do not support a claim that the site has shut down. The index displayed 134,016 topics, 1,106,941 posts, and 68,183 members in a 2026 snapshot. Those are dynamic figures, not audited or guaranteed live totals. See the MSFN forum index.

What changed, according to members?

In a discussion about browser builds and forum access, members reported a recent forum or server upgrade and said they could sign in afterward. One member said the server had been configured so it no longer used Cloudflare, and associated that change with their Cloudflare loop ending. These are member observations, not an official technical announcement or a guarantee that every browser or connection will work. See the MSFN member discussion.

What has MSFN officially confirmed?

The available material does not establish MSFN’s official reason for the upgrade or provide a complete list of technical changes. An indexed announcement titled “Frequent bot attacks issue” exists, but there is no established link between that announcement and the recent upgrade. It would be speculation to say bot attacks caused the change. See the MSFN announcement index.

What should visitors do if they still cannot sign in?

Because the reports describe individual members’ experiences rather than a broad compatibility statement, a continuing login problem should not be taken as proof that the forum is offline. Check the forum index and the recent access discussion for current information, then follow any sign-in guidance posted by MSFN itself. The available sources do not document a specific troubleshooting procedure.

Is MSFN moving from Invision to phpBB?

A separate support discussion concerned a proposal to migrate from Invision to phpBB. MSFN administrator xper replied: “I’ve researched this thoroughly and it’s impossible.” That was a response to the specific migration suggestion; it does not establish that every possible migration path is impossible. See the MSFN support discussion.
