Pack the items you will actually use, then measure your filled bag against the park’s size limit. For most visitors, a compact starting list is a phone, ticket or payment access, any needed medication, and a few day-specific comfort items such as sunscreen or a poncho. Disney’s family packing suggestions are useful options—not a requirement to carry everything.
Check your destination’s bag rules first
Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort publish the same maximum bag dimensions: 24 inches long × 15 inches wide × 18 inches high. Walt Disney World applies the limit in its theme parks and water parks; Disneyland’s cited rule applies in its theme parks. These are maximum dimensions, not a recommended crossbody size. A small bag is unlikely to approach the ceiling, but measure it when packed if its shape or contents could make it bulge.
Disney says people and bags may be screened. Walt Disney World’s property rules state: “All persons, bags, parcels, clothing and other items may be subject to screening/security checks.” Keep your belongings accessible enough to follow screening instructions at the entrance. Rules can change, so check the official page for your destination close to your visit: Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules and Disneyland Resort Rules.
Start with the essentials you personally need
A crossbody bag has limited room. Begin with items that matter to you and would be difficult or inconvenient to go without during the day:

These are practical suggestions, not items Disney identifies as universally required. Add only the comfort and care items that suit your plans, weather, and party.
Choose optional items for the day
Disney’s Walt Disney World family guide suggests a broad set of items for visits with children. Treat it as a menu rather than a crossbody checklist; some items may be carried elsewhere or left behind depending on the day.

Avoid items that conflict with park rules
The cited Walt Disney World and Disneyland rules say loose ice and dry ice are not permitted in the relevant bags or coolers and recommend reusable ice packs instead. Walt Disney World also prohibits glass containers, with an exception for small containers such as baby food jars. Check the current rules for your park and the specific item before packing; do not assume a rule stated for one resort applies everywhere.

Pack for children without carrying every care item all day
For a Walt Disney World visit with an infant or young child, Disney says each theme park has a Baby Care Center with feeding areas, changing tables, and other essentials. That may make it unnecessary to carry every care item throughout the day.
