Before buying a bullet heaven game on Steam, check the exact game’s attacks, run progression, player modes, controls, system requirements, DLC, and current refund eligibility. “Bullet heaven” sets a broad expectation—automatic attacks against hordes while you focus on upgrades—but it does not guarantee that two games play alike.
What is a bullet heaven game?
Valve’s tag wording, reported by PC Gamer on May 18, 2026, describes Bullet Heaven as “The opposite of Bullet Hell; Focus on upgrades while automatically attacking hordes of enemies.” That is a useful starting point: enemies arrive in groups, attacks often happen automatically, and choosing upgrades is central to play.
The label is not a complete specification. A game may still ask you to move carefully, aim actively, plan a build, or manage other systems. Tags help you discover games; they do not promise a particular pace, control scheme, or progression system.
Is a bullet heaven game like Vampire Survivors?
Vampire Survivors on Steam is a useful example, not a template for every game in the genre. Its store page calls it “a time survival game with minimalistic gameplay and roguelite elements” and uses the line “The supernatural indie phenomenon that lets you be the bullet hell!” Its user-defined tags include Action Roguelike, Bullet Hell, Roguelite, and Singleplayer.

When you compare another survivors-like with it, look past the shared label. Check how attacks work, what decisions you make during a run, and whether any progress carries over between runs. Screenshots and videos can also show how busy the screen gets and whether the visual style suits you.
What should you check on a Steam page before buying?
- Confirm the exact game and edition. Open the intended Steam listing rather than relying on a search result, bundle, or similarly named title.
- Read the description and inspect tags, screenshots, and video. Use them to judge the game’s pace, visual density, and style instead of assuming the genre name tells the whole story.
- Check run structure and progression. Look for what changes during a run and what, if anything, persists between runs.
- Verify player modes. Confirm whether the game is single-player, supports local co-op, or offers online co-op. Do not infer multiplayer from another game’s features.
- Check input methods and language support. If you prefer a controller, verify that the specific game lists controller support. A PC game controller is optional; it is not a genre requirement.
- Compare the minimum system requirements with your computer. Check the operating system, processor, memory, graphics, and storage requirements for your platform.
- Review DLC and bundles. Confirm which content is included, which add-ons are optional, and whether a bundle changes what you would need to buy.
- Look at recent player feedback. Read the substance of recent reviews, not just the percentage. Review counts and ratings can change; any figure should be understood in the context of the page’s current language or regional filter.
- Check the current price and refund terms. Store prices, discounts, and refund policies can change, so verify them on Steam when you are ready to buy.
Can Vampire Survivors run on your computer?
Its Steam listing gives these minimum requirements; they apply to this title and may change:

Can you play Vampire Survivors with a controller?
Yes. The game’s Steam page lists mouse, keyboard, controller, and touchscreen support, and advertises local co-op for up to four players. Those are features of Vampire Survivors specifically, not of every bullet heaven game. Check the input and mode details on the listing for any other title you are considering.

Can you refund a Steam game if you don’t like it?
Steam says, “You can request a refund for nearly any purchase on Steam—for any reason.” For games, the usual conditions are that you request the refund within 14 days of purchase and have played for less than two hours. Steam’s refund policy was last updated April 23, 2024; check the official Steam refund policy for current terms.
Steam says you can still submit a request outside those conditions for review, but that does not mean it will be approved. To request one, contact Steam Support and follow the refund steps for the purchase. Applicable local rules may also affect your rights.
