First, confirm the exact Magic: The Gathering set, product type, language, and edition you want. Then check Wizards of the Coast’s product and release information and contact nearby Wizards Play Network (WPN) stores to ask about current stock, expected deliveries, special orders, or transfers. Those are useful checks—not a guarantee that a store has the item or that it will be restocked by a particular date.
Confirm exactly which product you are looking for
“A booster” or “the new set” may refer to several different products. Before searching again, write down the details that determine whether a listing actually matches your goal:
- Set: the specific Magic release.
- Product type: for example, a Play Booster, Collector Booster, Bundle, or Commander deck. These are not interchangeable products.
- Language and edition: check that the listing matches the language and version you want.
- Condition: decide whether you need factory-sealed product or would consider individual cards.
This helps distinguish a product that has sold out from one that has not arrived yet, a different product from the same set, or a limited-time offering that is no longer being sold directly.
Check the official product and release information
Use Wizards’ Magic product pages and WPN products page to confirm the product name and release information. The WPN page lists products and release dates; it does not show store inventory.

Arrival timing can vary by product and region. For example, in a notice dated June 4, 2026, Wizards said some Marvel Super Heroes products could arrive after prerelease or the tabletop release while other product types remained on schedule. That was specific to the products and circumstances in that notice, not a general restock forecast. Look for a current notice about the release you want rather than assuming a sold-out listing means a delivery is imminent.
Contact nearby WPN stores about stock and delivery
Wizards describes local WPN game stores as the first place upcoming tabletop Magic products are available for sale. Its September 5, 2023 announcement names boosters, Commander decks, Bundles, and other products as available through local stores during Prerelease. This describes a sales channel, not the stock status of any particular store.

Use the Wizards Store and Event Locator to find nearby stores. The locator can help you search for stores and events; listings may include an address, phone number, and website where provided. It is a way to find and contact stores, not a live inventory checker. Wizards says the WPN includes more than 6,000 game stores, but that network-wide figure does not establish availability near you.
- Search the locator by your location and note the stores that are practical to contact.
- Call or message each store with the exact set, product type, language, and edition you want.
- Ask whether it is in stock, whether a delivery is expected, and whether the store can place a special order or arrange a transfer. Ask for timing and any conditions directly; availability and policies are store-specific.
- If timing matters, ask the store to confirm before you travel or place an order.
If you are buying online, check the seller and the exact listing
For sealed-product purchases online in North America, Wizards advises buying from reputable dealers. Its purchasing guidance says stores displaying the Authorized Internet Retailer logo have been approved by Wizards to sell sealed products online in North America. That approval guidance does not mean every seller or marketplace listing is authorized; assess the named seller and the specific listing.

Compare the listing against the product details you identified: set, product type, language, edition, sealed condition, shipping region, delivery timing, and total cost including shipping. Wizards also advises checking packaging and pack seals. If the listing or seller is unclear, ask questions before buying rather than relying on a product title or marketplace alone.
Secret Lair has a different sales pattern
Secret Lair drops initially sell direct to consumers during limited sales windows. For selected drops that include new-to-Magic cards, some non-foil product may later be available through WPN members and authorized distributors; Wizards describes that availability as highly limited. Check the official drop information for its sales window, and ask a WPN store whether it expects any eligible distribution. Do not assume a sold-out drop will return or that a store can obtain it.

Choose a fallback based on what you wanted from the product
A substitute is only useful if it fits your purpose. Consider these options without treating them as equivalent:

- For sealed collecting or drafting: look for the same product from another verified seller or ask a WPN store about future availability. A different booster type or Bundle changes what you are buying.
- For playing with a particular deck or card: consider buying individual cards rather than sealed packs. This targets specific cards, but it is not the same experience as opening sealed product.
- For interest in the set generally: consider another product from that set only after checking its contents and format. A Commander deck, booster, and Collector Booster serve different purposes.
