A game missing from a console store is not necessarily gone. First determine whether its store page is absent, the page is visible but purchase is blocked, or a game you already bought has disappeared from your library. Then check the account’s region and release timing, parental controls and device compatibility, and—if you bought it before—the account and purchase record. The right fix depends on which of those problems you have.
Identify what is missing
Before changing settings, note the exact game title, console model, country or region on the store account, and whether you previously purchased or accessed the game. Also distinguish these cases:
- No store page: The game may not be released yet, may not be sold in the account’s region, or may no longer have a listing.
- A page appears, but purchase is unavailable: Check release timing, regional availability, account or family restrictions, and device compatibility.
- A previous purchase is not in the library: Check the purchasing account, transaction history, library visibility, subscription entitlement, and license status.
- The game is present but add-on content is missing: Check whether the DLC and game versions are compatible with each other and the account’s region.
Check the store region and release date
Store catalogs vary by country or account region, and a game may not appear before its release. Nintendo’s support guidance for Switch 2 and Switch says software may be limited to specific countries; if a title does not appear in the eShop, it may not yet be released or may not be available for purchase in the account’s region.
- Check the country or region associated with the console-store account.
- Look up the game on the platform’s official store or the publisher’s official page for that same region.
- Compare the listed release date and supported regions with the account’s region. If the game has not released there, wait for the release or check whether an official regional release is announced.
Microsoft’s support guidance also identifies country or region as a possible reason an app or game is unavailable. Moving between countries can affect access to apps that were previously available. Do not treat a missing listing by itself as proof that a game has been delisted: confirm the particular game, platform, and region through an official store or publisher page.

Check account restrictions and device compatibility
If the store page exists but you cannot find or buy the game, verify that the console is signed in to the expected account and check any family or parental-control settings that apply to it. Microsoft lists parental controls, account sign-in, and device incompatibility among possible causes of an app or game not appearing.
Compatibility can vary between devices even within the same platform family. Microsoft notes that availability on a PC does not guarantee the same title is available on another device or Xbox. Check the official listing for the exact console model rather than assuming that a game available on one device will appear on another. A listing that has been removed may also take time to disappear from a store view, so confirm availability using the platform’s current official listing.

Find a game you already purchased
For a missing library item, start with the account that made the purchase. A different signed-in account, a hidden item, an expired subscription entitlement, or a license issue can make a game unavailable without meaning the purchase record has vanished.
PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4
- Confirm that the console is signed in to the PlayStation account used to buy the game.
- Check the account’s transaction history for the purchase. If the game came through PlayStation Plus, check whether the relevant subscription entitlement is still active.
- Check whether the game is hidden from the library.
- If the game shows a padlock or still cannot be located, restore licenses. On PS5, go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses. On PS4, go to Settings > Account Management > Restore Licenses.
PlayStation says restoring licenses can help with issues such as a padlock icon or a game that cannot be located. It is a troubleshooting step, not a substitute for checking the purchasing account and entitlement.

Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch
- Open the Nintendo eShop with the account that bought the game and locate the game’s details page.
- Check whether the page offers the Virtual Game Cards button with a redownload option. Nintendo says this indicates the game was purchased and can be redownloaded at no cost.
- If the page identifies the game as Hidden Software, redownloading has been disabled. Follow Nintendo’s support instructions to re-enable redownload and load the virtual game card.
If the game opens but its DLC is missing
Check the region of both the base game and the DLC, as well as the account that purchased the add-on. Nintendo says DLC is tied to compatible regional versions: when the game and DLC regions do not match, the DLC will not appear in that version of the game. Compare the supported regions in the official Nintendo information for the specific game and add-on before repurchasing anything.

If the official store or publisher confirms that the game is not available for the relevant console and region, there may be no digital listing to buy or download there. A physical copy is an option only if that specific game has a physical edition for the reader’s platform and region; verify the edition and compatibility before seeking one. Do not assume that an edition for another console or region will work.
